Hospital Preparedness Program subrecipients, RAC members, and regional emergency response partners will receive priority registration in that order. * WHEN: March 12-13, 2009 * TIME: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (2 days) * COST: FREE (lunch, snacks, and refreshments will be provided) * WHERE: NCTTRAC, 600 Six Flags Drive, Suite 150 Arlington, TX 76011 Description: This course is designed to provide qualified personnel in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) industry with the knowledge and skills to assume a Strike Team Leader position for managing personnel assigned to medical treatment and transportation functions during a disaster or a large-scale incident. The target audience for this course is qualified personnel chosen by their sponsoring agency in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) industry. It is recommended that participants have: * EMS systems leadership experience * The ability to function or supervise independently for an extended period of time in austere environments * Demonstrated conflict resolution skills, interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and behavior, and competent decision-making abilities * Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage multiple competing priorities (ability to multitask) * The ability to adequately represent his/her jurisdiction * The confidence of his/her jurisdiction or agency * An understanding of and compliance with Incident Command System (ICS) concepts and principles * Additional Medical Unit Leader Competencies established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Emergency Medical Services Working Group Prerequisites * Minimum Training Requirements: ICS 300 * Your organization must also have signed the appropriate Department of State Health Services Memorandum of Agreement for Disaster Response or be in the process of completing the MOA within your agency.
