Guest guest
Hi, - It can take a while to troubleshoot issues like this- but here are a few things that I'd suggest looking into: 1) It may not be the brace causing the issues- my daughter with clubfoot never had any issues sleeping through the night, throughout the casting and bracing stages...however, my son, without clubfoot (no braces etc.) took ***FOREVER*** to sleep through the night. Every baby is wired differently. 2) Six months is a prime growth spurt and milestone stage- does his brace need to be widened to adjust for his growth? Are the inside edges of the heels of the shoes about the same distance as the width of his shoulders? Did this sleep issue just start recently? Babies will wake more often during the night during major life events: when they're teething, learning to crawl etc. 3) If he's waking due to rolling and the brace hitting the crib etc., you can try using rolled up blankets or a small pillow to prop his legs/brace. How long is he in the brace every day? Where are you at with correction, did he just get the brace, or has he had it for a few months? It seems like the brace should be fitted properly if it's not bothering him during the day (naps), but if he's only wearing it for 1-2 hours during the day versus all night, perhaps it is too narrow now, and he gets uncomfortable in it at night. Hope some of this helps! & (3-16-00) left clubfoot, switched to Ponseti method at 4 mo. old http://ponseticlubfoot.freeservers.com/ > My son who is 6 months old is having difficutly in sleeping > with his shoes on at night. Guest guest
Is he getting tangled in the covers? Sounds about the same time as Darbi started waking a lot and when I took the covers off of her she was much happier. I wrap her in a blanket thingie (works like a sleeping bag kind of - but with ties instead of zipper) and she can move all about without tangling but still stay covered. Guest guest
I don't think its the covers. He likes to sleep on his belly with his knees pulled up...or on his side..not easily done with the shoes on. Hopefully he will a position that is comfortable for him. Guest guest
Kori, Say again? A blanket thingie with ties? Does it tie up the sides or the middle? Rose is always ditching her covers and then she wakes up crying in the middle of the night because she is cold. I would like to find some way to keep her covered without having to keep an extra blanket handy to put over her at 1 a.m. because her blanket was tangled up in her bar. Guest guest
Hi My son Connor has always slept in a sleeping bag/nest. It zips up the front and so they don't nmeed covers. We have the summer one in the summer and a thick one in the winter. That way when he turns and rolls the bag goes with him. They don't have sleeves but in the winter he wears thick pj's and my house is pretty cold but I have never known him to be cold or too hot at night. In the summer he sleeps in just the bag and a nappy!! Rach, Steve & Connor born April 16th 2003 b/l c/f -- Re: Difficulty sleeping Kori, Say again? A blanket thingie with ties? Guest guest
We also use a sleeping bag. They're great for keeping babies covered, especially with the FAB. Now that he's older, brings his FAB and sleeping bag to us at bedtime! Although they're easy to find for newborns, the bigger sizes seem to be less in demand. We ordered the Sleepsack on the internet from Halo. They retail for $25, but if you order 2 it's $40.00 for both. In winter sleeps in them with a long-sleeved Vest, in summer just a T-shirt, on really hot nights we don't bother with any blankets at all. We've been very happy with them. They have sizes S to XL (which fits up to two year olds) in winter and summer fabrics. A percentage of sales is donated to SIDS. http://www.halosleep.com/product_listing.cfm and 24th Jan 2003 www.clubfoot.co.za

Guest guest
I am happy to report that slept thru the night last night with no interruptions! I don't want to brag YET but hopefully I have the answer. I didn't cover him up. Maybe he was fighting with the covers, I don't know. But hopefully that was the problem. I went in and checked on him this morning and he was sleeping on his side with his feet up in the air. He looked funny but he was sleeping like a baby! Thanks for all of the suggestions! This is a wonderful site and it is great that everyone is so helpful and willing to give advice. and " loulee3412 " loulee3412@...> 06/23/04 10:18 AM Please respond to nosurgery4clubfoot To nosurgery4clubfoot cc Subject Re: Difficulty sleeping I saw these on sale on Babycenter for $17.50.
