Those last few rounds of Drano seem to be the kicker!!! Omigod, how I hate this disease!!! Glenn is " stuck " right now and no chemo for 5 wks. due to all his other problems...some caused by the cancer in the liver/vein and some caused by the chemo itself. GI Dr. told me last night that Glenn would be able to continue with chemo, but I don't believe it. I haven't spoken to the Onc. lately, so don't know what HIS feelings are. At this point, I just want Glenn's b/p to come back up and stay!!! So he can get in to a regular bed and out of ICU. Tell Janet we are all routing for her...hoping her body can continue to fight for her! And, as a caregiver, I know you need prayers for strength and you are getting them, Larry. Close your eyes and " Feel " the strength!!! Lots of hugs and prayers, Donelle Caregiver to Glenn
Guest guest
That nurse must have been from a foreign country. Tea is definitely and underscore that for binding; it does not cause the runs. That is why it is on the BRAT diet. The T stands for tea. Juice is a no no plus it is loaded with sugar. Karima Re: Re: A little update on Janet I think any juice would contribute to diarrhea. Guest guest
Double check your BRAT diet the T stands for toast not tea. Jolene BRAT DIET - A bland diet consisting of ripe Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast. This diet is easier for the intestines http://www.medhelp.org/glossary2/new/gls_2729.htm> to digest. This can be helpful in cases of gastroenteritis http://www.medhelp.org/glossary2/new/gls_2180.htm> , cramping abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Alternatively, there are products (e.g. lactose http://www.medhelp.org/glossary2/new/gls_2839.htm> -free " Ensure " ) which may be substituted (and more tasty) and still accomplish what a BRAT http://www.medhelp.org/glossary2/new/gls_0879.htm> diet is attempting to do. Guest guest
Senior housing can be nice. But again you have very little privacy in those living conditions. There is companionship. The Seniors do visit each other and often the housing has programs available for transportation and little get togethers. Not all senior housing is the same but the ones I have seen seemed comfortable. The apartments are small so have heard a lot complain that they had to give up a lot of their belongings so they can fit in the apartments. I am not sure if I would like living is such small places with your neighbors right on top of you. I am used to acerage and the privacy that comes with it. But everyone is different especially in what they enjoy. I may feel differnt when I get to be a senior. Again rent can be so expensive. Guess it is a tie between the upkeep of a home. Yes, I know there is always something. Know that way to well. I think it is just part of life. Our cars are both old. My truck is 18 years old. But it sure beats them car payments. Husband is mechanic so he keeps them running. Ingrid > > Probably like her mom. She cleans when it gets piled up or if I > start > > griping. Guest guest
They have too many rules and nazi regulations for me. How much your dog weighs IF you can have a dog. You can't have a pickup or an antique car. What flowers you can plant outside if you can plant even a tomatoe plant. Living on someone else's rules and regulations is DEFINITELY not for me. I am fortunate I do not have to worry about the money issue. Own 2 homes and can always take reverse mortgages and plus will have a huge inheritance. Its just living long enough to enjoy it all. Cancer sucks. Nonnie IF THERE ARE NO DOGS OR HORSES IN HEAVEN THEN WHEN I DIE I WANT TO GO WHERE THEY WENT. HOPEFULLY, there IS a RAINBOW BRIDGE!! Re: Re: A little update on Janet Hi Nonnie. I agree with you. My group, the K-Jays is a quartet that has been singing for seniors for over two and a half years. We put on at least 5 some times more full shows and each show is taken to at least 7 or more senior homes. Some are independent living (they have their own little houses); most are assisted living. We love the people and they love us and I always come home thinking, I could never live in one. On the other hand I would like to maybe live in an active independent senior community but there aren't many of them back here. Oh well, I am focusing on living right now. Guest guest
I play 1.00 a week. I figure if I’m supposed to win the lottery I will do it on one ticket. One has to walk ½ way across the bridge. We had 2 numbers last night. Oh well 1.00 a week is not an addiction. I see many people buying many more tickets than their financial condition warrants… ie migrant farm laborers who you know aren’t bringing home any big bucks but spend 30-40 a week on the lottery. Guest guest
may be it depends on the kind of tea that u drink? or is all tea a diuretic? then maybe I should drink lots of tea and I could get rid of some of this weight. Guest guest
Yeah I see a lot of low income and retired people spending $$$$ on lottery tickets. I figure too, if one dollar don’t get it, it won’t happen anyway. I was In a pool for awhile and we never won anything to speak of either. So it is just the luck of the draw and I would say the Hand of the Lord is not there to guide that balls either, no matter what anyone thinks. Guest guest
Hello old and new friends here. I hope all is well with everyone and that everyones battles will be won. Well it has been about three weeks since Janet's last chemo cycle. She is still weak and the numbness in the feet and hands are a problem. Not much improvement there. She is walking with a cane now to help with her balance. She will see the oncologist on the 22nd of June and has a ct scans planned for mid July. Does evryone else has this long a wait between their doctor visits? She has had some bad headaches lately and has developed a cough that I am a little worried about. It is cottonwood season so it could be due to allergies. Still have to make her drink water and dehydration could be the cause of the headaches. She has been working in the garden alot and it has been very hot in Chicago in the nineties today and I am hoping she doesn't over do it.. Kids have less than two weeks of school left, can't wait until they are out, it will take some pressure off. Janet did make it to the Baseball Art Show that was at the TEN CAT Tavern over on North Ashland Ave. That was fun. Anyway, that's all for now. Keep the faith Larry, husband of Janet Green TNM Classification: T3 N1 M0 Stage 3B Http://groups.yahoo.com/group/JanetRGreen
