Thank you everyone for your kind replies. I made the appointments for

the oncologist and radiation oncologist - all before Thanksgiving- so

now it is the waiting. My husband and I had a long talk about his

downplaying everything. He is very scared- but he doesn't want me to

be. He thought by his acting calm would calm me down. Now he knows that

didn't work. We are both glad that it was caught at a very early

stage. It is almost as if I want the simple mastectomy and get it over

with, but everyone (who hasn't been through this) thinks I am over

reacting. I'll see what the other doctors say and make my own decision.

Spoke to my cousins- I have many first cousins who are very scared now-

this never occurred in my family before. They know not to tell my

parents and agree with me. My mother's blood pressure will sky rocket.

I have the feeling I will have to break the news to them sooner or

later.

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you to the two women who answered my

post. I am still trying to figure out how this board works. Because

you guys told me to see a doctor quickly I made an appointment for

Friday. I have scared myself half to death reading the symptoms of

Pagets. You helped me realize that I am not being stupid for not

waiting the two months the dermatologist said to wait. I don't know

how you do it. How does someone get past losing their breast? What

are the emotions you went through? I have been thinking about it a lot

for the past couple of days and wondering how I would cope. I have

wondered how my husband would respond. These thoughts are probably

pretty trivial compared to the whole picture. Is there anyone who would

like to tell me their story and how they got through it?

I am really glad you got an appointment. It didn't both me to loose my

breast. I wanted to be around to see my grandkids. I was 44 at the time and am

now 61. So now I want to see the grandkids get married! I more or less expected

to have some sort of cancer somewhere along the line. My Father and sister had

already died of cancer so I had a feeling it was just a matter of time for me I

was determined the cancer was NOT going to take me too. Here is a link to my

journey with cancer

If you look about half way down the page, you will see The Woman I Love. It was

written by husband not too long after my surgery. I will keep you in my prayers.

Dear ,

One day at a time. It is overwhelming, though I am told that one day

breast cancer will not be an every day thought. Also, please don't

get ahead of yourself. In 80% of these scares they turn out to be

benign. Good luck.

I just want to thank all of you for your encouragement and e-mails regarding

remaining with the group. Some of you even e-mailed me privately, and I

thank you.

I was angry. There's no other way to explain it. It's just when you put

your heart and soul into something, and your sole objective was to watch out

for some of the " newbies, " that the subject lines of " Heart Problems, " etc.

don't scare them, or sway them one way or another without researching for

themselves...well, anyway that was two days ago, and I don't dwell on things.

I'm still under the influence of the flu (11 days now!), just put my beloved

Max down last week and maybe I overreacted. Being without you girls

wouldn't be the same, so I'll remain and just watch what I write, as it could

be

construed as something other than my own opinion.

Thank you all again...I really care for all of you deeply, and even if I can

encourage just one member, then it's all worth it for me.

XOX

PS Tony and I are getting a new dalmatian puppy, hopefully by

Christmas...Max left too big a " spot " on our hearts, and we need to feel whole

again. XOX

I am glad that you have decided to stay. I mustn't have gotten the original post

in question, or I did get it and didn't think there would be any problems.

Either way, glad you are back.

It's not for 10 days. I have no idea what to do with myself between now and then. Melinda Melinda, if you have an appt. for ten days from now....that is great!!!! It took me a month to get in to see Rhonda K. in Chicago. I'm trying to learn to relax more and that is actually a part of getting well...but man it's hard. Hang in there and keep your mind focused on being determined to get well. Hang in there....Hugs, Chelle P.S. - The PT you are seeing are they 'updated' in pelvic floor work? Not all PT's
