Guest guest
We all had our appointments today with Dr. Herzenberg. As for my little Tommy we had new casts applied that look different from the 15 we have had previously so I am praying that these won't fall off and we are on the road to success. I was very impressed with Dr. Herzenberg and the time he took with us. Everyone was so very nice. He asked us to be part of an international teaching conference he is giving on September 4th. Doctors from all around the world will be attending and watch him cast Tommy...now if that's not impressive I don't know what is. I feel completely confident that no matter what the outcome(success or not) I will never second guess that I should have seen someone more qualified or done anything different. The traffic was horrific ...it took 7 hours from land to New York but I know it will be worth it in the end. Thank you all for your encouragement in me seeking a second opinion. I don't know what I would have done without the knowledge I have gained from this board. Tommy Lee 4/23/04 Bilateral CF cast #1 second series > I've been sitting here biting my nails waiting to hear how everyone > fared with their checkups with Dr. Herzenberg yesterday... > > Fingers crossed everyone is on the right path now! > Joanne W. Guest guest
, I feel exactly as you do about Dr. Herzenberg. I was very upset because I really feel like I want to say something to his old doctor..like maybe.WHY DID YOU MESS MY KID UP?!?! But I don't think I should even contact his office any more. My son is being treated correctly by and incredible doctor and I will leave it at that. Could you believe the traffic yesterday!!!! It took us 6 hours from land to New Jersey. Guest guest
Hi What time were you there,I missed you. It was nice to put some names to faces. How did your visit go and what did Dr. Herzemberg say. Guest guest
Hi Joanne, Nice to know we were being thought of!! made it through the no food waiting time and was really just a little angel. Mommy was definitely more distraught than she was! Dr H. said he got the results he wanted when he did the tenotomy and she will be in the cast for 24 days (comes off 9/13) and then back to the DBB. Now I just have to find time to get that done before her cast coems off - LOL has been a little fussier than usual starting around 4:00am this morning. Been trying to make sure the Tylenol doesn't wear off but when this dose does, I'm giving her Motrin instead. Longer benefits. Anyway, enjoyed meeting and , and Tommy Lee, and Michele and Collin. Brief encounters but enjoyable!! Marilouise 9/9/03, LCF, 3 week cast following 2nd tenotomy Owen and 3/20/99 > I've been sitting here biting my nails waiting to hear how everyone > fared with their checkups with Dr. Herzenberg yesterday... > > Fingers crossed everyone is on the right path now! > Joanne W. Guest guest
Happy to hear it was good results! I've been told you can alternate Tylanol and Motrin - like Tylanol is every four hours - well you can give Motrin two hours after tylanol, then in two hours after that give the Tylanol again ......clear as mud? I did that a lot with when he was little and hurting all the time. s. Re: Dr. Herzenberg checkups yesterday? Guest guest
Hello, Collin's visit went well. He was so happy to come home with no casts!!! The last few times we were there he went into them, so for the whole drive there he told me over and over that he didn't want casts...and it was hard to respond because I didn't want to make any promises because I wasn't sure. Our appoinment was at 8:40 but we had x-rays then went to the room to see one of the student docotrs then had to get more x-rays then saw Dr. H's associate then still had to wait to see Dr. H....so by the time we were done there about 11:30 Collin was just ready to get out of there so I'm sorry I didn't really get to much time to talk to any of you. It took us about 2 1/2 hrs to get there but the ride home was horrific with a cranky almost 3 year old, he will be 3 on Tuesday. It took us about 4 hours to get home since 95 was shut down for a while...we have had it worse though one day it took us over 8 hours to get home from 95 being shut down from an accident. At least that day I had Collin's grandma with me to help entertain him in the car. We will also be at the conference on September 3rd with Dr. Herzenberg. I think we are going since Collin just started ponsieti method at age 2 (Ocotber 2003) Collin seems to be doing good, still has some intoeing etc. but overall they said just to continue with the DBB at night probably for another year and to still wear the reverse last and straight last boots during the day. I brought up the external fixator that was mentioned about 2 visits ago, and right now it looks good that we don't need to go that route!!! What a relief the thought of putting him through that was just terrible since I couldn't reason why he would have 2 surgeries in 8 weeks and a halo surgically implanted around his leg. Well hopefully we will be able to spend more time with you all next time. If not we will see some of you shortly at the conference. Maybe afterwards we could have lunch or dinner together depending on how the day goes.
