Guest guest
I want to thank everyone on this and the other plagio board (sorry if you get this twice) for all the advice and encouragement. has officially graduated from her helmet and although her head's not perfect, we're pleased with the results. I thought I'd share our journey esp with the newer members, as I haven't posted so much recently. (sorry for the long post) It was my (80 year old) grandmother who noticed her cheeck asymmetry when she was 3 months old although I had noticed her not wanting to turn left a little before that. We brought it up to her pediatrician (and surprise surprise he said to monitor it and she should outgrow it). By 4 -5 months old her cheeck had worsened but she would turn her neck better (after minimal repo). I think to get us off his back he referred us to the craniofacial specialist and she got her starband at 5 months with an asymmetry of 14 mm. Throughout our visits with the orthotist, she kept questioning Sam's neck bc she saw a tilt but was never diagnosed with tort (even from our craniofacial specialist.) At 8 months we saw an orthopedic surgeon who treats kids who said that Sam did indead have minor tort that would probably be fine doing nothing but since we know about it we may as well keep up on the stretches (which we started to do anyway.) After 3 months in the helmet we got down to 4.6 mm and then outgrew it. Last week we went back to check after 2 weeks of not wearing it and she was at 4.8mm (essentially no different, so no regression!) It would be nice to get the numbers a little lower, however the craniofacial specialist said he was happy under 5mm (usually doesn't band under 10 mm) and it is starting to get really hot here in Sac, so I am so not interested in another band. Unfortunately I never posted any pics (just too busy and all.) But I really wanted to thank you all of you, especially the moderaters for keeping a board like this around. I'll probably stick around this week and then unsubsribe. Thanks again ! , mom to 9 months Starband grad !!! yeah!!!
