Guest guest
Does anyone in this group practice yoga? I've been taking a yoga class once a week since May and much to my delightful surprise, my body shape has changed beautifully. I am interested in hearing what the experience of others has been. Should I try to add another day of yoga per week?
Guest guest
Can I ask how much you weighed when you started yoga? I've always thought it would be difficult to do the stretches for me since I carry so much excess weight. Maybe I need to reconsider? Thanks. Guest guest
When I started yoga I weighed about 160lbs. However, there are some larger ladies who are in the same class and do just fine. And yoga is such a good activity to begin with because you can modify each posture to your own ability level. If you have back or knee problems the instructor can help you modify the positions to help prevent you from re-injuring a body part. Re: Re: yoga Can I ask how much you weighed when you started yoga? Guest guest
When I started yoga I weighed 210lbs. Some of the positions were uncomfortable, but mostly the relaxation ones. So I would modify them to work for me or lay on my side during that point. I am now 185 and I can do pretty much anything that the instructor asks for. Hope this helps. I have a website I will try to find and post about an instructor who is 250+ and promotes it for us women. Karla PDX, OR > Can I ask how much you weighed when you started yoga? Guest guest
Has the yoga made you limber? Do you feel like you can stretch more... bend more? Suzie
Guest guest
Yoga has really helped to elongate my muscles, or at least it looks like it. My body is certainly reflecting the work I've done in Yoga class. Re: Re: yoga Has the yoga made you limber? Do you feel like you can stretch more... bend more? Guest guest
Hi Karla: Thanks for the info. I think I'll check and see what is offered here (Hawai'i). I don't want to join a club like 24-hr. Fitness because I'd feel so intimidated working out with those tiny figures! Val
Guest guest
Val, Just so you know 24hr is where I workout and what I have found so far is that everyone is really nice. I have gotten quite a few people notice my loss and say good job. The ones that give a sidaways look are the same ones that would do it in the mall so don't let it bother you. You are going in their to better you and that is all that is important. You are wonderful and who cares what everyone else thinks. I love the flexibility of 24hr and the fact that I can do a little weight training after class. Just food for thought. Good Luck, Karla > Hi Karla: > > Thanks for the info.
