Guest guest
I like trader joe's rice crackers. You could also try Ener-g foods gourmet crackers. These are the two plainest things I can think of. You could also try a baked potato... It's my favorite when I have an upset stomach. Ginger is supposed to reduce nausea, so you could try pickled ginger or candied ginger, depending on your taste. You can also buy GF ginger chewable things that are intended for carsickness. Mint tea is also supposed to reduce nausea. > > Hello .. I need some ideas of things that I can snack on to help with > the nausea of morning sickness. Guest guest
People around me swear by Cream of Wheat. They say it's healthy and that it digests fast so if you throw up you will already have the nutrients. I don't know of a GF product that's similar (I don't like it) but if you know of something you could look into that.azrescue36 wrote: Hello .. Guest guest
Cream of Rice. Bob's red mill also has a buckwheat hot cereal that is definitely gluten free. > > People around me swear by Cream of Wheat. Guest guest
First off, CONGRATULATIONS! May morning sickness be the worst part of the next 20 years or so. :-) Second, I was never GF with my four babies... and am not expecting to have morning sickness while GF. (But you never know.) Third, CITRUS ALTOIDS became one of my food groups. Honest, those things were just right for me. NOT the peppermint ones which I still can't eat, to this day, 10 years after the pregnancy when I tried one and ended up in the ER from the vomitting migraine that seemed to result. (Maybe it was strictly coincidence. Maybe not. Who knows. I'm not about to repeat the experience.) Fourth, if you want a cracker, I'd go with Ener-G's crackers: http://shop.com.edgesuite.net/ccimg.shop.com/220000/226800/226862/products/11925\ 293.jpg To me, these taste JUST LIKE Saltines. Even to my son who tasted one and said " Hey, these are 's crackers in a different box " . NB, 's serves Saltines with the chili. Fifth, try to avoid letting your blood sugar drop low. Eat a solid high-protein snack before bedtime. Have a snack easily obtainable for the middle of the night. Have some raisins available to munch before you even get out of bed. Sixth, avoid strongly scented things. Seventh, CONGRATULATIONS! I'm truly excited for you! Esther in RI > > Hello .. Guest guest
nothing really helped at the beginning except, citrus foods, and eating very small meals, several times a day. I had that horrid metal taste in my mouth for about 25 weeks, so once i got rid of that, I didnt feel so nauseated anymore. I did keep a bag of fritos by the bed. I know it sound gross, but it was GF at the time, salty, and helped absorb some of that stomach acid. I also ate GF Beef Jerky. The protein helped.. Guest guest
Lightly salted rice cakes are the easiest and most available saltine sub, but that's really not helpful in my experience. Keeping your blood sugar from dipping in the first place by consuming protein regularly is really the best way to hold off the queasy stomach. With both of my pregnancies the only way I could tolerate protein when I was already feeling queazy was COLD (or spicy Mexican food, oddly enough, but that was just me!) and so cheese and daily smoothies were the best options for me... I went through so much plain whole milk yogurt, bags of unsweetened frozen berries, and bananas that our shopping cart always seemed to be 1/2 full of smoothie fixings! I've made maybe 2 or 3 smoothies total since my second baby was born 2 years ago, but they were a lifesaver for the pregnancies! julie > > Hello .. Guest guest
I've never heard of a hot cereal for morning sickness... interesting! Cream of Rice would be the closest and I do enjoy it with some maple syrup stirred in, but the texture would have made me barf while I was pregnant. Maybe it''ll appeal to the OP though! julie > > > People around me swear by Cream of Wheat. They say it's healthy and > that it digests fast so if you throw up you will already have the > nutrients. Guest guest
Cassava crackers are very gentle also, and rice, of course. I needed citrus while pregnant, especially lemonade and grapefruit juice. Slowly eating a couple of almonds several times a day is supposed to be good for pregnant heartburn (or any, I guess). Bananas? Applesauce? Ginger tea might be nice, or chamomile. Oh, I needed Good Earth tea while pregnant also—spicy with things like cinnamon, cloves etc. Chai might be as good. Congratulations on having morning sickness—I hope it passes soon and you start the glowing phase! Laurie lbilyeu@... There are two GF hot cereals that we really like: 1. Bob's Red Mill - Mighty Fine GF cereal 2. Birkett Mills (branded as Pocono, Wolff, and probably one or two others) buckwheat cereal. Both of these are quite tasty, and can be enhanced with cinnamon and/or raisins. -- n : jt@... http://jt-mj.net In the beautiful Finger Lakes Wine Country of New York State! Just the ordinary frozen, flavored water ones were the best - have someone bring you one before you get out of bed and then suck it slowly. If I did that first thing in the morning, I felt far less queasy all day. Maureen
Guest guest
Thanks so much for everyone's great ideas. I am going to the store today to buy up some stuff. I'll be glad when this phase passes. thanks ... Hello .. I need some ideas of things that I can snack on to help with > the nausea of morning sickness. Guest guest
I dont think I would have liked it when I was pregnant either because of the texture, but I like cream of rice with either brown sugar and walnuts stirred in or fresh berries. > > I've never heard of a hot cereal for morning sickness... interesting! > Cream of Rice would be the closest and I do enjoy it with some maple > syrup stirred in, but the texture would have made me barf while I was > pregnant. Guest guest
Before you use too much ginger, ask your doctor or nurse if it's okay while pregnant. I have heard that it can cause miscarriage, although this is hearsay. Janet > I like trader joe's rice crackers. You could also try Ener-g foods > gourmet crackers. Guest guest
According to a medicinal herbalism book I have, you should not exceed more than 1 g. powdered ginger herb in capsules per dose, or take 2-5 drop doses tinctures as required to reduce morning sickness, up to 5 ml a day. They say do not exceed stated dose and use with respect in early pregnancy. I wouldn't think that a few slices of pickled ginger or a small piece of candied ginger would present a problem, but I wouldn't recommend eating a large volume of it at once. You also may want to alternate it with mint etc. Of course it's always good to consult with your doctor. > > Before you use too much ginger, ask your doctor or nurse if it's okay > while pregnant. > I have heard that it can cause miscarriage, although this is hearsay. > > Janet
Guest guest
I found it was the smell of food that made me nauseated. Cold food doesn't have much smell. When I stuck to cold food I was able to eat just about anything. G. marcianar wrote: > > Hello .. I need some ideas of things that I can snack on to help with > > the nausea of morning sickness.
