Guest guest
Yes I had this problem. I had several visits to a hearing clinic over a number of years, and the hearing loss seriously affected my ability to do my job (I'm a teacher). At first I wasn't too aware of the problem but when it got to the point of seeing moving mouths but not hearing anything I was seriously alarmed. The ringing in my ears began at about that point. That all happened before I was diagnosed as HypoT and of course was associated with lots of other health problems. As my dose of thyroxine was raised the problem began to recede and I was delighted when I could hear silence again. I know some people cope with tinnitus, but I don't know how. That noise wemt everywhere with me and somehow seemed to even whistle through my dreams,I thought would it would drive me mad. Anyway I am now taking 125mcgT4 and 20mcgT3 and the tinnitus has gone and I am hearing well again. I can enjoy concerts and silence! I have no doubt at all that the hearing loss and the tinnitus were caused by HypoT. How are your levels? Do you think you are still undermedicated? --- emptynestfour wrote: > I'm on Levoxyl(T4) 75mcg 1x daily and Cytomel 5 mcg > 1x daily. > I have non-stop ringing in the ears and my hearing > loss is getting > worse. Guest guest
I did get relief after my last thyroid med increase, although I don't think my symptoms were as bad as yours. Do you have some lab numbers and ranges to post? I'm on Levoxyl(T4) 75mcg 1x daily and Cytomel 5 mcg 1x daily.I have non-stop ringing in the ears and my hearing loss is getting worse. The joke around the house is, "get mom a pair of hearing aids for Xmas this yr."(ha)I just turned 49, have seen 3 different ENT'S who can't pinpoint the problem. My hearing test started out 3 yrs. ago on the mild level and have now hit moderate levels. I keep telling them it has something to do with my thyroid. They tell me impossible. The high pitch noise is driving me crazy.(24 hrs) If I hear my self say huh...one more time I'll scream. I can't hear worth a darn.Would someone please tell me if they've experienced the same problem and if so, did you finally get any relief? If so, how? Thanks as always...Sincerely,EmptyNest4 How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates.
Guest guest
>Hi I have the ringing too-and it is irritating-I think the meds definitely are a factor in it--I also think there are problems getting enough oxygen in your body-and that causes a lot of strange maladies. Do you have any dizziness? I am bothered with that off and on also > I did get relief after my last thyroid med increase, although I don't think my symptoms were as bad as yours. Guest guest
I've had permanent earringing since the summer of 1998, suspected for thyroid (but only by me, of course), probably poisoning from something in those Mexican fires that were rolling across Tx at that time, and me sleeping with the windows open and going outside in it, plus an individual sensitivity to something in that, more than likely. Google autoimmune disease in the ears, and you'll come up with some interesting reading there. Nothing was found in my ears, the vertigo went away, but the earringing stayed. It's also synchronous with my heartbeat sometimes, when I lay down to sleep. White noise muffles it or diverts my brain from " hearing " it most of the time, like a fan running or other room noise. Hearing Loss/Ringing In The Ears Is Driving Me Mad....Need Advice Please! > I'm on Levoxyl(T4) 75mcg 1x daily and Cytomel 5 mcg 1x daily. > I have non-stop ringing in the ears and my hearing loss is getting > worse.
