I started sotolol as an outpatient without problem, but hated every second I was

on it. It made me feel like depressed death warmed over.... really really

horrible.

if you're game for being hospitalized for 3 days, ask your doctor if you

qualify for taking Tikosyn... there are a bunch of us on it, with great

success, and the most wonderful thing is that there are virtually no side

effects! No lethargy, no depression, no nausea....

and I hear you loud and clear about the arthritis medications and warfarin...

I deal with alot of joint pain and I hate being on coumadin and not being able

to take aspirin or ibuprofen. I had a bumm knee for a while and my doctor told

me I could take one or two ibuprofen every once in a while for the pain, and I

looked at him and said " I want to take it every 4 hours for a month, if

necessary, to get rid of the inflamation that is obviously causing the pain " ...

alas... I take Tylenol, which doesn't almost nothing as far as I can tell.....

Iam 75 years old and had my first AF seven months ago and have hade 6

since then. The first lasted 3 days befor I went to Emergency and was

put on Digoxin and Warfarin.I converted on my own the next day and my

doctor said to stay on the Warfarin for a month and then just the

Digoxin so long as I can convert within 48 hours. Two months ago I went

to Emergency to get converted and they would not do it because of my

history of monthly AF and said to see my doctor about getting on an

antiarrhythmic drug. I would rather take only Digoxin and get converted

in Emergency when I cant convert on my own within 48 hours. I do not

like takeing Warfarin because I have to stop my arthrits drug and live

with that pain in addition to AF.

My doctor wants to start me on Sotalol as an outpatient. I told him

that I had read that it should only be started in the hospital where

you can be monitored for at least 3 days but he said he did not think

it was necessary. I would like to get the opinion/advise of members on

this.

Thanks, Jerry
