It seems such an odd place, the university is so isolated from everywhere, just a depressing campus right next to the A1. And the town centre...hmmm. Old Hatfield has a bit of character though. he university does have one huge thing in its favour - a wonderful workplace nursery - otherwise I wouldn't be there! St Albans I like! I go there sometimes for work business and also for work socials like xmas lunches. Nice shops - used to love Blooming Marvellous when I was pg/Tabby was a little baby. ---------- > >> The Galleria - yuck! I don't like it at all. (unless you are referring to the Barracks which I think has been renovated and yes, is/was pretty vile - but has the excuse of being old, unlike the one in Leamington) West Orchards enabled me to go shopping again - after I got too ill to work I had several years where I just couldn't go and relying on someone else to buy your underwear isn't a very rewarding experience. When West Orchards was rebuilt I could go again. But shopping in Coventry has not been a premium experience for centuries. My parents live not far south of Bristol and the Mall at Cribbs Causeway is lovely - our two got thoroughly soaked by the fountain and had a great time. Part of me feels a bit uncomfortable about out of town centres and chain stores and internet shopping - but I would not have been able to go shopping at all the old way. -- jennifer@... We can't take the kids or grandkids out for a half day trip without taking kosher " nosh " with. In the USA it's a bit easier, as a lot of mainstream products like crisps, have a kosher symbol on, but here in the UK we are less well supplied so have to bring our own.
