Ablation: local or general anesthetic?

I may be considered for an ablation in the near future to cure

debillitating PVC's. I have read that the procedure can take several

hours due to mapping etc and that patients are awake during the

procedure. Is this correct or are you given a choice of being 'put

under' for the entire operation. Any info would be useful. Thanks
