Guest guest
I'm sorry to learn you have had a rough go following surgery. I sure hope things get better for you and your good healthy life begins. Sue ---- summerin71 wrote: ============= Hi everyone, My name is , I have been reading the messages posted over the past couple of days and have just finally gotten the strength to post on here myself today. I am 8 days post op today from having the Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass on Oct. 30th. I have had a pretty difficult time post-op. I have had struggles with high fevers up to 103.2 and just last night spent the evening in the ER to find that I have a blood clot in my right arm. I just want everyone to know it has been very comforting for me to read the words of others who have experienced or are experiencing the same struggles as I am feeling. I have been overwhelmed with emotions and regret at times. It is also helpful to feel the excitement of those who are looking forward to their surgery date, it helps to remind me of how excited I was going into this. That seems to be something I had lost touch with over the past 8 days. Best wishes to those who are about to have surgery and thank you to those who post their words of encouragement who have been there. They told me the last 5 sessions of the 30 treatments are high beam aimed at my lumptectomy and scar. Is the the usual procedure? I just thought they were a little higher dose. Also I was advised to begin tamoxifen 2 weeks after rads and there is no other choice for me since I still get my periods monthly. Did anyone out there take anything else other tham tamoxifen while still getting theri periods. I just hate all those side effects that I have been reading about. Also how soon after rads do you go for a mammogram? Thanks for you support- this group is the best! Guest guest
Ellen - We are on just about the same schedule except I just finished the first four days of radiation. ( I am off today since they are changing doctors there and my time is after the doctor has left) I am scheduled to go on Tamoxifen after I finish the rads. I am what they call being in perimenopause since I am not real regular and am 54. I will have to ask the new Dr. when I see him/her about the period between rads. and starting the pill. ne > > > I just finished my radiation planning and am all set up to start rads on > Monday. Guest guest
Eileen, My periods started one year out from chemo (I was 46), so tamoxifen was my only choice (premenopausal). I didn't have bad side effects, and January will be 2 years on it. I wish you well for your radiation treatments...you should breeze right through. I have those last 5, too. Guest guest
Chemo put me into menopause (never even one night sweat before) at 46. For one year, I didn't get my period, but then they restarted so they checked my estrogen level to make sure. I have the estrogen of a 20 year old...too bad, I don't have the body! Guest guest
Thanks Eileen, this brings up a questions I have... I've been hearing that Chemo can through you into Menapause, has anyone experienced this. I'm 46 and I'm sure I've already started the night sweats. I start Chemo on Tuesday and I'm wondering which drugs to watch out for regarding this menapause onset. I had 33 and 8 of my were boost aimed at the scar area. I think that is the usually proceder. Good luck I have burned but other than that it went pretty well Didn't have much fatigue with it either. Of course everything is easier than the chemo I had to do, Steph
