Guest guest
Lori, My grandson (06-05-04 bilateral) is getting his first shoes & brace today. His dad is in the marines and the tricare insurance will not cover. They contacted the Navy Relief group and that organization paid for the first set of shoes and brace. I don't know which kind of shoes they are getting, but the insurance would not cover. They are checking into Shiners to see if they can help with the next set. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Sally, Tricare will pay for the Markell shoes. They paid for ours but they have to be entered by the provider a certain way. We use a local limb and brace company and Tricare told me that the shoes have to be entered as " Dennis Brown Brace " and the bar is entered as a misc. item. If the brace company is given that info, they can look up the codes that correspond w/ that. Hope that helps your son.. it saved us $128. Guest guest
Lori, Wow you have done good with Tricare. When we had tricare they didn't cover the shoes or the bar. NOTHING!! We got the code and everything and tricare said they don't cover the dennis brown at all. This was back in 2002. We had to pay for the shoes and brace until we started going to shriners St.Louis now we don't pay for anything. I hated tricare they gave us such a hard time. The lady on the phone even said to me that tricare says that the dennis brown is medically unnessasary and that we should go ahead and just get the surgery. I gave her a piece of my mind. We fought for months with tricare and then gave up. I know another lady on here that I know from Ft.Riley her son was born the same time as Isabella has to get the mitchell shoes and tricare won't cover them for her. The last I heard that was a couple months ago. Best of luck to you (Mommy to Isabella 10-12-02 bilateral cf) > Sally, > Tricare will pay for the Markell shoes.
