Guest guest
One important thing to remember is that a lot of us seem to find our tastes change after WLS. It is possible that something you hate now you will love then, and vice versa. Be prepared for challenges! Sharon in D.C. Sweetners in protein drinks Does anyone else have problems with the sweetners used in protein drinks? I have tried a few different types since a co-worker works part-time at GNC- I have noticed that even if I can stand the taste of the drink I get a horrible headache within ten minutes of drinking a few ounces. I am pre-wls and trying to find just the right protein drink before I have to start drinking them. I am used to using Splenda for sweetned tea and lemonade. I don't know that it is the sweetner or the protein itself. Any suggestions? Yes, I know vitalady has great protein drinks, I need to get myself to her site and order some samples. I hate chocolate protein drinks so I am looking for different flavors. By the way, I tried the Whey Protein Blast drink that is supposed to be like Gatorade. It isn't horrible, but is really thick and very tart- I had kiwi strong- berry. I tried watering it down but think I will keep looking for other alternatives. I really hoped there was an alternative to " shakes " . To Subscribe to 's monthly FREE Newsletter send an email to GBCookbook-subscribe@... Guest guest
Have you tried zero carb Isopure drinks? They come in 20 oz. glass bottles, fruit flavors, and 40 grams of protein in each drink. They are tart, but not thick, more like gatorade. Ask your friend at GNC to see if they carry them or can special order them for you. My GNC special orders them for me. They are pricey, like $3.50 a bottle, but I like them every now and again as an alternative to the chocolate shakes. Good luck. Guest guest
If our tastes change after WLS, would it be best to wait until after surgery to order and try the trial sizes I get from Vitalady? Guest guest
It might be good to have samples ready to use when you get home.... make little half- or quarter-portion drinks. Guest guest
My tastes never changed. I think it's better to try some before if you can.
