Guest guest
That is a funny story! =) I'm sure my mental picture of the situation is far worse than the actual event, but it's definitely funny. Guest guest
Kallie: I have always heard when dieting one should limit their intake of bananas because of the sugar. Personally though, bananas are my favorite fruit, but I believe many years ago when I was doing WW, we were only allowed 1/2 a banana & it seems like that was only once or twice a week; can't remember for sure. Jeepers though, if you have been losing weight while eating them, I don't think I would change anything until I might hit a plateau. Just my 2 cents worth, as I have always heard a lot about bananas too. Sharon Bananas http://www.thefruitpages.com/bananas.shtml http://snipurl.com/74d2 When I offered someone a banana the other day, they almost had a fit. It really took me back with the expression on her face. She is trying to take off weight too, and goes to T.O.P.S.. Anyway, I said whats wrong, she said, and in a good loud tone, " bananas are right full of sugar, dont you know " and they really slow down weight loss. I said " gee I eat one or two a day. But this did baffle me. She knows I am on WW and done well. So all of a sudden her look changed and she was saying, " You eat a banana everyday and lost weight " while giving me this evil strange look thingy.. Then she took the banana and ate it.. You had to be there because it was such a funny scene going on here..but it was because I done so well with WW, that it had her doing a whole lot of thinking in just a few seconds..when she grabbed it.. I came back with " you never eat bananas " and she said no. This really got me thinking, so I thought I would look up some info on them... because some days I would even have 2 of them...but now I am thinking maybe 1 is plenty..from what I read it can slow weight loss for some people.. Anyway I thought I would pass on this info in case anyone is interested, especially if there is anyone losing slow and maybe eats a lot of bananas too ...and this story was so funny to boot.... There is a lot of info out there , but here are just a couple I read. ~~Kallie~
Guest guest
I had the same situation when I started on another list that is weight loss related, but not Wwers related. We were talking about our " diets " and I shared my comparison of fat/protein/carbs and one lady flat out told me that there was NO WAY I had lost weight eating that many carbs. Okay, well tell that to my size 2s because I did! I know it's an old saw, but I hate people who mind my business! I had someone today tell me not to wear the shoes I was wearing to ride my bike (Tevas). What? Hey...news flash. I'm 39 years old and I think I can handle dressing myself. Didn't your momma ever tell you MYOB? She also told me one time to gain back five pounds, but only five. Um, no. It is important to watch your carbs if your blood sugars are out of control, but otherwise balance is key. Lotsa good, healthy, nutrient dense carbs, a good amount of low fat protein, and a very small amount of fats (preferably the " good " ones). > Bananas > > > http://www.thefruitpages.com/bananas.shtml > http://snipurl.com/74d2 > > > When I offered someone a banana the other day, they almost had a fit. > It really took me back with the expression on her face. Guest guest
You know if you have questions about if something is good or bad, look it up! Bananas are VERY high in some essential nutrients. Guest guest
That’s funny because if I eat one on an empty stomach I am guaranteed to “visit” it again within an hour. They always make me throw up, but I love them. If I eat them with a good meal, it is okay. > Re: RE: Bananas > > > >I'm told it's good for people with hypertension, so that's > the >story > >I'm sticking with. > > Bananas have potassium and that helps with bp. Guest guest
I *hate* that. That is *so* annoying and irritating. I had someone give me unsolicited advice once and had to snap back at them.
