weird dent in head

Hi, All,

I have posted before complaining that my son's starband was fitting too

close to his right eye. We finally were recasted for a new band last

week, but won't receive it for a couple weeks. So, we are still

wearing the old band. We have noticed some " denting " near the right

temple and eye. I have posted a picture under " Our plagio babies K "

and titled the pic " weird dent in head " . Our orthotist is out of town

until 8/6, so our question is: do we discontinue wearing the old band

until the new one is in? Is it doing more harm than good, or is it

worth it to keep the old one on until the new band is in?

Let me know your thoughts.

Kellie - I'd say DON'T use the bad band. It can cause harm. There is a mom here who had 2 bad bands that caused irreversable harm. Did the ortho say to keep wearing it? I can see the dent you waere talking about - but I;m not sure if that is caused by the ill fitting band - BUT just to be sure I'd stay away from the bad one.

Your orthotist is out of town for 2 full weeks and doesn't have anyone available to field questions? That seems like a long time. In the meantime, I would probably discontinue use of the old band. The recasted band will probably do the best work at this point and if you feel like the old band is possibly causing the dent, I would stop using it. Your son will have lots of growth spurts in the new band and I don't think the next 2 weeks will be crucial time that can't be made up in the new band. JMO. GL! I would not keep a band on him that doesn't fit properly. That is my opinion. Do you have your fitting scheduled already? How many days will be between the casting and fitting?

The ortho is gone for 2 weeks, so I'm not sure if I was to keep wearing it or not. I called my doctor, and he thought I should take it off. My gut feeling is also to stop wearing it for now. I'd be sad if we missed a growth spurt (because the back of his head does seem to be improving), but I don't want to mess up his face either! I agree that I am not sure if the dent is from the band--but I can't see that drastic of a dent in my son's previous pictures. So I think we'll keep it off until 8/6 when the ortho is back. Can his head grow that much in two weeks? Thanks,Kellie, Mom to Kaden, Starband on 6/13/07Jen <JenandLuli@...> wrote: Kellie - I'd say DON'T use the bad band. It can cause harm. Kellie,

Why are they having your son wear the ill-fitting band? If it

doesn't fit right, then it is better to not wear it than wear it and

possibly make his current head shape worse.

Kellie,

I just looked at the pictures you posted. I am not sure if the dent

was caused from the band; however, that is a pretty significant

dent. Does your ortho know what they are doing? We were very

pleased with CT. Good luck and make sure they rectify the situation

immediately.

PS: Make sure that you recieve the band no more than 14 days from

when they recasted. The longer time period between casting and

recieving the band, the more likely that the band won't be right

when you get it.
