Guest guest
Yes, Gabby is from Russia--Kaliningrad (between Lithuania & Poland on the Baltic) not Karelia. But that area is all so close, who knows if her mother or father were from Karelia?? My father's parents were from Lithuania. Gabby's orphanage was on the river bordering Lithuania, she was born in Nemen city--also on the Lithuanian border. My aunt (100% Lith) is both gluten and lactose intolerant. I've had my " troubles " but nothing that seems to last, like Gabby's has! The friend I wrote about before, Tuija came from Lappeenranta. Her dad was born in Karelia, the area that is now Russian. He never wanted to be called Russian! My grandmother (100 years this Sept) would probably HIT you if you said Lithuania was part of Russia! (She never acknowledged Russian occupation even tho she lived thru WWI over there!!) There ARE many people who have adopted from far western Russia who can't figure out their kids' tummy troubles--now I keep telling them to test for celiac! We will HAVE to visit the gluten free haven of Finland one day! And then on to Russia! ) Laurel > > > Laurel, your daughter was adopted from Russia? Correct? Where abouts? Im just curious as there are SOOO many Karelians with Celiac, Im wondering if she was born in what used to be Karelia. > Best! > Cassi > > Gluten free in downtown Imatra! > > 'Okay, before I forget...um. I already forgot.' >
