Guest guest
Wow, I didn't know there were so many people that had chestpains and heart problems related to CD, I thought I was the only one. When I was going through my run around of doctors, sick all the time, I was having problems with my heart. It felt like everyday I was getting chestpains and my heart was arrhythmic. In fact, I was getting PVCs once every fourth heartbeat and sometimes my heart would stop for about three seconds (I had to where a heart monitor twice, and I'm only 20 years old). I went to three cardiologists, and EKGs, stress tests, even and MRI, they never really found anything until CD. But I don't think my cardiologists ever believed that was related to my heart problems. Even though my heart is still arrhythmic after being GF, I still think the arrhythmia started with CD because I never had any problems with my heart before that (I had even had 3 EKGs earlier that year that were normal). Anyway, as far as my chestpain, I had really bad GERD and lots of uclers in my esophogus, which also pretty my went away with a GF diet. Anyway, I was just excited to see that there were other people out their with heart problems and chestpains related to CD other than me. Anyway, I'll TTYL tchau tout le monde ~Amy

Guest guest
Severe anemia can cause breathlessness and heart palpitations. I had those problems for awhile. It turned out that I was severely iron deficient. I just had a round of IV iron infusions over the last several weeks. My iron counts are finally up and I no longer have the heart palpitations, chest pain, or breathlessness. I've been GF for nearly two years. My hematologist surmises that I'm still not absorbing iron well from my gut, possibly because I've been on proton pump inhibitors for so long due to reflux, possibly because my gut still isn't healed. I also have very heavy menstrual periods. She thinks I'll probably have to have infusions every two- four months for the forseeable future. I feel SO much better, though. What's more, my heartrate, which was up above 100 resting for years (came with the CFIDS) has dropped to a " normal " rate of 80-something. I also have energy and can do stuff. And my sleep is better--less restless legs. Other, non cardio causes of chest pain can include asthma, reflux, and costochondritis. I have costo and mine is triggered when my allergies are bad. It's very painful and the only treatments are rest, NSAIDS, and steroids. I usually opt for rest and NSAIDS. ygg
