Check and see if the crackers also had MSG. I'm planning an enterolabpurchase in august when i have cash flow again to check for gluten, milk, yeast, soy and what i think is a check for vitamin defficiency?Well, thanks for listening, and i think i'm gonna be more careful, iwas GF for about a week or 2 before the cracker poisoning :) I wouldlike a yes or no to the gluten intolerance from a doctor, even tho iknow that's what makes me sick...

Not all MSG is forbidden. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought if it's manufactured in the US it should be safe unless otherwise indicated? I eat plenty of things with MSG with no noticeable reaction!??!?!

That's right. Not all MSG is off limits. It's like maltodextrin: If this ingredient is made in North America it is likely to be gluten-free. The other note for MSG is: Can utilize a gluten-containing grain or by-product in the manufacturing process, or as an ingredient. Celiac.com's forbidden list HTH! This is what I believe to be true also. I have eaten many, many

things with MSG in them and have had no reaction either.

No wonder my gramma is allergic to yellow dye, she's also allergic to

petroleum products in general, and the coal tar would have it in there

i would think...

isn't it sad how we're poisoning ourselves and our children before

they even get the chance to speak for themselves as kids? ONIONS TO

THE FDA! hehe...they just don't see all the reprocussions (sp?) of

putting all these chemicals in and on our food, or they see them but

ignore them. I've been slowly feeling better by cutting out many

chemicals & eating organic. It helps the gluten intolerance too from

my opinion, i can see just how bad that stuff is for me after being

away from it, after the " cracker poisoning " incident that started this

topic!

Tara, Just wanted to let you know with the Mitral Valve Prolapse, you have to know it is somewhat like CD. I think it is 30-40% of all MVP does not show up on the echo. I was diagnosed as a child. I was re diagnosed in college, from an echo-cardiogram, then when I was pregnant with my daughter I had to have my doctor sign off to do a home birth so I was sent for another echo. My echo was clean and he said I didn't have it. I walked away stunned wondering what years of chest pain and shortness of breath was from, then a month ago I saw on Discovery Health channel two cases. MVP and CD. What are the chances back to back stories with these two diseases. The show was called Mystery Diagnosis. Anyway my point was this woman only felt good when she was pregnant because there is an increased blood flow so the mitral valve somehow shows up clean on the echo with increased blood flow. I am not sure what

the other variables are, but they are there. So if your friends have an echo and it comes up fine, just pay attention to the symptoms not the test......It's like Celia diagnosis all over again. MVP patients end up walking away from the doctors office feeling crazy like CD patients. Hope this helps! Cheryl Tara Chapman wrote: Thank you for posting all this info regarding food allergies, intollerances,

MVP, and panic attacks and other symptoms. I have recognized these symptoms in two friends of mine who have been given the run around from Doctors. Hopefully, it will be the beginning of a road of recovery for them both. Hello :)

can you describe your chest pains? I have them whenever i eat too much

gluten, but the doc's are completely dumbfounded since they can't find

anything " outstanding " in terms of seeing something wrong. I've had my

heart & lungs checked out, and been to a neurologist. I jsut had

another one tonight, i ate subway (BAD TINA!) so the only thing that

makes them go away is tylenol & asprin, (doc said it was ok to mix

pain relievers instead of overdosing on one or the other) rolaids and

a nap. The neuro said it was " atypical migranes " but why would they go

away when i watch what i eat?!? Mine start as a pinch in my back on

the right side & go around front, like right thru from the spine under

my breast, and they get so bad sometimes they creep up my throat &

face & make my jaw hurt so bad it makes my eyes water & my face go numb.

another question, what does your " ygg " " hth " & other abbreviations i

see on here mean? i'm still a computer novice & don't chat or talk on

here except in this group & with my friends! thanks!

My chest pains as a child were crushing. It felt like a horse was sitting on my chest, but it was a sharp horse, not one with a soft butt. It went from my sternum (center chest bone) all the way left and wrapped around. Sometimes I could not take a deep breath because it felt like a knife stab in my heart. I would lay down and wait and wait to fall asleep so it would go away. I was also always short of breath. I would have to yawn to try and get enough air. Now that I am older, I still get the same as above, but this week it is just chest heaviness, and my heart hurts all night. I feel it every second, and it hurts. Sometimes I fell like my heart is not beeting, and other times I feel it is pounding out of my chest. It also sometimes feels like it flips over...like actually rolls in my chest and I am still short of breath. You can do a google search for Mirtal Valve Prolapse and read as much

as you can. I know I was told your intestines will pass on to the kidney what they can't handle, and you kidneys will pass on to the liver, and once the liver is overloaded, it goes to the lungs. I have never attributed my breathing or chest pains to CD, but it definently could be. For me, any MSG I am suffering. Your chest pains could be CD or MVP related, I wish I could tell you for sure. (write down in a journal what you ate and what you feel when you have them and I guarantee you will find out if it is gluten or MVP) I was a muscle therapist for years, and in learning about the spine and ribs, you could have pulled a rib-head out of place and that could be it....but I don't think so. I know I am freaky about the MSG but....did you by chance have meat on your subway that could have had MSG? It is used to enhance flavor.... sorry I had to ask. If no MSG then maybe it is gluten.

OK where is the "ygg" and "hth" I looked and I don't see it.pmbluemoon wrote: Hello :)can you describe your chest pains? I don't know about the ygg, but hth is hope that helps. It's as the bottom of my post below. Cheryl in NM Cheryl Kent wrote: My chest pains as a child were crushing. You can do a google search for Mirtal Valve Prolapse and read as much as you can. I know I was told your intestines will pass on to the kidney what they can't handle, and you kidneys will pass on to the liver, and once the liver is overloaded, it goes to the lungs. I have never attributed my breathing or chest pains to CD, but it definently could be. For me, any MSG I am

suffering. I have them whenever i

eat too muchgluten, but the doc's are completely dumbfounded since they can't findanything "outstanding" in terms of seeing something wrong. I've had myheart & lungs checked out, and been to a neurologist. I jsut hadanother one tonight, i ate subway (BAD TINA!) so the only thing thatmakes them go away is tylenol & asprin, (doc said it was ok to mixpain relievers instead of overdosing on one or the other) rolaids anda nap. The neuro said it was "atypical migranes" but why would they goaway when i watch what i eat?!? Mine start as a pinch in my back onthe right side & go around front, like right thru from the spine undermy breast, and they get so bad sometimes they creep up my throat & face & make my jaw hurt so bad it makes my eyes water & my face go numb. another question, what does your "ygg" "hth" & other abbreviations isee on here mean? i'm still a computer novice & don't chat or

talk onhere except in this group & with my friends! thanks!> > > > Hello, thought i'd share being only you guys will > > > understand...> > > > I was over at a friend's house yesterday, and he had some kind of> > > > flavored cracker he wanted me to try. ===============

just read your description of your chest pains. Sounds remarkably

like the esophageal pains I get from reflux. I can control it be

having a very strict gfcf diet, no processed foods and no sugar. My

husband gets them as well and he controls them with Nexium. He is

taking a double dose and still struggles, but then he still eats

gluten despite having CD and drinks way too much soda.

It took years of doctors' visits and tests before anyone worked out

what it was. I thought I was having a heart attack once. I was

drenched in sweat, had palpitations and couldn't breathe from the

pain. the ER doc finally diagnosed it as esophageal spasms

Ok, that sounds like mine pretty much, i've had the same pains since i

was probably around 16 or so, and i still feel like my heart " flips "

every once in a while too, it stops beating for a beat or two, then it

pounds really hard a few times, then it's fine. I know about the

yawning thing too, and sometimes it feels like i have a lump in my

tyhroat almost like a stuck burp or something (possibly because it's

swelled up in there). I hate that feeling, it's like i'm going to

faint. It definately happens from gluten, because when i'm a " good

girl " and follow the diet, i don't have any chest pains at all. I

avoid the MSG when i can because of my uncle, he's deathly allergic to

it, and my boyfriend makes sure he doesn't eat anything with it in

there just because he knows it's bad for him.

I know subway is HORRIBLE for me, but i'm still in my " trying to get

used to my diet " phaze, I'm doing better because every time i have a

problem like this, it makes me crave " junk " less and less. I notice

the symptoms i get more and more when i've been feeling good for a

long time too, which helps greatly. I should stick to the salads at

subway when my friends take me there, and ask for no crutons or

dressings! I'm slowly learning, but have NO help besides you guys in

this group to help me out, and i greatly appreciate all of you! Thank you!

I found out the " hth " is hope this helps... :) " ygg " is someone's

initials? i kinda thought it was " you go girl " or something like that hehe

I don't know where you live, I am in FL, but if you find a support group in your area you will be amazed at how great you feel. The stories will make you fell like yours isn't so bad. (I went in thinking how horrible all that I was going through, and one woman's story had me thinking my life was wonderful!!!) The people are nice, and you get a lot of great cooking ideas and coupons too. I got so many tips on foods, and things not to waste my money on trying etc. Find a group!!!!!! Celiac.com also has a chat group. I like it, it has a lot of information like this one. There is a teen section also. But it is really nice to sit in a room and meet people going through the same thing. The meeting was so informative!!!! I am going to leave this group soon because I get too many emails. You can always keep my email address. Take care!! pmbluemoon

There is a setting in here that lets you change your preferences to

" no emails " in your settings...i had the same problem when i first

signed up, and that's what i do now, i don't get any emails in my

inbox, but read all the postings in this site.

as for the support group, i live in WAY nothern minnesota, and the

closest group is in duluth, MN (60 miles south of me) that only meets

on the 3rd thursday of every other month... :( I've done all the

tigging for groups around here. after i;m done with college i want to

move to a town that has some gf people in it (like eau claire

wisconsin maybe). but that won't be till may of 2007.

Wow, I didn't know there were so many people that had chestpains and

heart problems related to CD, I thought I was the only one. When I was

going through my run around of doctors, sick all the time, I was having

problems with my heart. It felt like everyday I was getting chestpains

and my heart was arrhythmic. In fact, I was getting PVCs once every

fourth heartbeat and sometimes my heart would stop for about three

seconds (I had to where a heart monitor twice, and I'm only 20 years

old). I went to three cardiologists, and EKGs, stress tests, even and

MRI, they never really found anything until CD. But I don't think my

cardiologists ever believed that was related to my heart problems.

Even though my heart is still arrhythmic after being GF, I still think

the arrhythmia started with CD because I never had any problems with my

heart before that (I had even had 3 EKGs earlier that year that were

normal). Anyway, as far as my chestpain, I had really bad GERD and

lots of uclers in my esophogus, which also pretty my went away with a

GF diet. Anyway, I was just excited to see that there were other

people out their with heart problems and chestpains related to CD other

than me. Anyway, I'll TTYL tchau tout le monde
