Guest guest
I don't think we have to completely cut out soy. Occasionally it's not going to harm us. But hey...if it makes you not go to KFC anymore that's a good thing for your body on all levels! lol! Tammy Hi all,Just to let you know that they have just announced on the tv that KFC is now changing their cooking oil to SOY. One more thing we can't eat.Dawn in Canada
Guest guest
My endo said that it is a myth that we can't eat soy products. Just avoid drinking soy milk for a few hours after taking meds. Now we eat lots of veggie products, soy proteins, etc, when we eat out and even at home. But he sees no problem with it at all and he is one of the top rated endo's in land. So if you want to have KFC once in a while don't worry about it. Of course you should check with your doc. Best, bubbe gittel

Guest guest
They're doing that because the previous frying oil had so much trans fat that it had to come with a warning to eat it. It was solid at room temperature and when heated would melt.. eww. So, soy is the way to go I think LOL. Lesser of two evils I guess LOL. Guest guest
Hi Tammy, That was a 2 or 3 times a year treat and having got things almost right not sure I want to take a step backwards. I agree with not being good for your bod though, did make a nice, even if naughty change of diet. Dawn > > > I don't think we have to completely cut out soy. Occasionally it's not going > to harm us. Guest guest
The thing about eating meat substitutes, we eat veggie sausage and the like from Morning Star or Yves for example is not to expect it to taste that the product it is a substitute for. I guess since we have no choice sometimes we got to like it. Restaurant right near us called Great Sage does all these types of sandwiches. for example of favorite of ours is the veggie BLT. Oy and their veggie soups, yummy. But I sure can understand that some folks just don't like this type. Best, Bubbe Gittel

Guest guest
Ohh *drool*. I miss fast food. The only fast food I allow myself to have is from Long Silvers. I love their hushpuppies. All the buns and things from hamburgers have milk & yeast so I can't have those. But boy, do I miss them!! Oh if only I could make a hamburger bun that didn't have either. And don't even get me started on pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut . Re: Re: KFC news - SOY I admit my treat is a nice fat greasy wendy's double burger with fries.....that sounds SO good right now! Guest guest
Well. It seems those who are healthy, are very healthy. If not, chronic ilness. As far as attitude and spirit...pretty darn hearty here. lol Everything is black or white...and people pull no punches in telling you what they think. So...if that has anything to do with it? lol As for me, I'll hold back my opinion...if you'd just give me 2 big macs. lmbo ~Kate > > I'm jealous of you! Guest guest
It's hard for me to explain my diet to people... I basically eat Halal and Kosher only (it's easiest for me to say it that way, because my list of allergies is that long and coincidentally mirrors non Kosher and Haram foods LOL) Although because I live in a small town, that is very hard to do. So I try to eat as good as I can, but with fast food so close by, it's really hard. I tell myself it's justifiable to have 1 fastfood meal a week to keep up my fat content because I don't eat enough. Otherwise, my nails don't grow and my hair stops being shiny (go figure) LOL.
