I believe one packet is the same sweetness as 2 teaspoons sugar. The

problem is that if something is using sugar partly as a volume agent,

then the packets won't work and you'll need the loose splenda. If it's

something like sweetening a whole pot of coffee or tea (I sometimes do

this rather than do it by the cup) then it will work fine.

Ok OK I confess it's for the Cheesecake Brownie recipe that Jean

posted. I wanted to make them again tonight but both stores here

locally only have packets which I have some of.

SO does anyone know if you can use the packets for that recipe?

1 cup equivalent = 24 packets, 1.5 cups equiv. = 36

If your recipe is depending on the sugar for bulk, you might have a problem

with the substitution, as those packets will not come anywhere near a cup.

Sue, I don't know if you can use packets of Splenda or not. So if you want

to make the brownies again, does that mean they turned out okay the first

time?

Di,

I have never tried soy flour in the brownie cheesecake recipe, so I couldn't

say if it would work or not. I ordered my almond flour on line at

www.almondsonline.com and they came from somewhere in California, so it

shouldn't take long for you to get it.

It does not contain gluten, if that's what you mean.

[if I take too much of it, it makes my innards ornery. That may be

just me. I have very ornery innards, even when on a gluten free diet.]

The reason I ask is that I get sick when I drink sodas both regular

and diet. I had heard that high fructose corn syrup could cause

that reaction in a celiac. But Diet Sprite causes terrible stomach

upset in me too and it contains Splenda.

Maybe your innards and my innards have been web chatting late at

night when we're sleeping. Maybe my ornery innards have been giving

your innards lessons on how to be extra ornery.

I can handle one 12 oz can of soda MAXIMUM about every other

day. Beyond that, I'm toast. I can't take aspartame at all

because of neurological complications. I avoid the full

sugar ones because of diabetes. So, that leaves me with the

Splenda ones if I want a soda pop at all. I can take one can

and nurse it for the whole afternoon. And MAYBE, just maybe,

my innards will be kind to me.

It's almost become not worth it to me to have a soda pop.

I do still like flavored seltzers, though. I buy those a lot.

I can drink those with aplomb. So, it's not the carbonation

that makes my innards ornery. It's something else.

I'd suggest it may also be the caramel coloring that could bother

you if it's the colas that bug you. But I don't think diet Sprite

has any caramel color.

I'm betting your innards have been taking lessons from my Ornery

Innards. Sorry. I'll tell my ornery innards to stop giving advice

or to at least charge for it so I can make a living. {:-) (Devil's

horns)

FWIW, I've heard of quite a few people through various forums that complain of digestive upset of one type or another after ingesting Splenda. If the complaints however are specific to sodas with Splenda, there are some pretty harsh ingredients in the typical soda (like a variety of acids). The problem in this case may or may not be entirely Splenda.

Esther, I can always count on you to crack

me up!

But my own tummy pain has gone away in the

last couple weeks—I’ve eliminated both coffee and Splenda. HHMmmmm,

I say to myself. I really hope it’s the Splenda, because I do love a cup

of coffee.

Anyway, this is why I was glad to see the

post about the Stevia sweetened instant tea. Stevia has never seemed to bother

my stomach and I do like it. I like the flavored sparkling water also, and

prefer to hydrate with that to dehydrating with any soda.

I can handle a little coffee. Can't take too much of it 'coz I

have enough problems with insomnia for other reasons. One in

the morning and that's about it for me.

Hey, speakin' of which, any one know if the Tim Horton's flavored

Oh yeah, baby! My local grocery had Adirondack 6-packs on sale the

other day for only 99 cents! 99 cents, I say! I picked up one

of each flavor and then hoped I'd be able to find room in the

fridge for all of them. Yummmmmmm....

SPLENDA IS CHLORINE COATED SUGAR!! ICK!!! Please don't support those
