After seeing my endo a few weeks ago, she decided to put me back on Armour. I think this was mostly based on my relating to her how bad I've felt since trying Synthroid again.

I am supposed to restart it tomorrow and am looking for advice on dosing. She has prescribed 180 mg, but after reading other posts, I'm concerned about starting this all at once. I do still have a couple of refills of Synthroid left and am curious about trying a little of both to see how I feel.

Any advice?

okay...now why don't you try a combo of both Synthroid and Armour? Have you thought abou that as an option..since you like the Armour? On Armour...it looks like you t4 was lagging. This plan would help shore that up. I take both...59 mcgs synthetic t4 and 112 mgs...Armour. This way...I'm more equal to four grains instead of what you are doing at (3 grains) 180 mgs. See...AND it does help with symtpoms even though I'm still tweaking a bit. My labs show my t4 at 100 percent and the t3 at about 142 % NOT...saying you should do JUST like me. This is all highly individual..and I was able to get my TSH down to ..01 ~E:) Calico

I've seen my energy level drop some and I've noticed I seem to be more stressed and unable to focus on tasks. None of the other symptoms have improved. How did you get your doctor to try you on a combination? Did you try it and then relate how you felt?

Sounds to me you were underdosed on 180 mcg, and should of had an

increase in Armour not a switch back to Synthroid. You conversion is

obviously a problem for some reason.. have you had adrenal testing?

Are you on other meds that might be interfering with thyroid usage?

Calico No...I did it myself..then switched docs. When you start with someone new they are reluctant to mess with what you claim is already working. Also...I did start working with a Hormone specialist who prescribed my labs and meds for a time and that made it easy to figure what is best for me in terms of the combo. My current Endo doesn't care what I do...as long as I keep the TSH suppressed. ~E:)Calico wrote: How did you get your doctor to try you on a combination? Did you try it and then relate how you felt? I haven't had my adrenal's tested, but plan to ask her about it on my next appointment at the end of the month.

Other than my thyroid medicine I'm currently taking:

Byetta 10 mg injections twice daily - only been taking this for about 4 months. This has not seemed to interfere with my symptoms

Metformin 1000 mg twice daily - Started this with the Byetta. Does not seem to interfere with symptoms. Both are being taken to help with my weight.

Crestor - 40 mg for high Cholesterol

Multivitamin that includes: (I've been taking this for a few months with no noticeable change in how I feel)

Vitamin A - 2500 I.U.

Vitamin C - 60 mg

Vitamin D - 400 I.U.

Vitamin E - 30 I.U.

Thiamin - 1.5 mg

Riboflavin - 1.7 mg

Niacin - 10 mg

Vitamin B6 - 2 mg

Folic Acid - 400 mcg

Vitamin B12 - 6 mcg

Pantothenic Acid - 5 mg

Calcium - 450 mg

Iron - 18 mg

Magnesium - 50 mg

Zinc - 15 mg

Calico: This lady you have now...sounds like she might be up for a suggestion on the t4, if you need to suppress that TSH...AND, if you just do it by dropping a just a quarter or 1.2 grain of your Armour and replaceing that by adding 25 mcgs of Synthroid, she might be up for it. Tell her you just want to do this little experiment...AND if it really doesn't improve anything for you...You'll be more than happy to go back to plain Armour. Docs don't like to mess with these things because it complicates things...but if you make it EASY for her, she might be more amenable.:) I'd give her a chance to hear you out before you do anything else. Other than my thyroid medicine I'm currently taking:

>

> Byetta 10 mg injections twice daily - only been taking this for

about 4 months. This has not seemed to interfere with my symptoms

>

> Metformin 1000 mg twice daily - Started this with the Byetta. Does

not seem to interfere with symptoms. Both are being taken to help

with my weight.

>

> Crestor - 40 mg for high Cholesterol

>

Not sure what Byetta is? The other meds, namely the multi need to be

spaced 4 hours from your Synthroid or Armour..

I do know trouble with wieght gain, diabetes and high cholesterol

are all symptoms of hypo.( not all diabetes but some type two)...I

am thinking T3 here.. you obviuosly have a conversion issue..what

that issue is I have no idea but I am thinking you are going to feel

better on a much higher dose of Armour than 3 grains..

Hi E.

Is your doc ok with your T3 being at 142% - meaning is there no harm in medicating to that high a level? I ask cuz I am headed there and like the T3...

Thanks,

sue

okay...now why don't you try a combo of both Synthroid and Armour?

Have you thought abou that as an option..since you like the Armour?

On Armour...it looks like you t4 was lagging. This plan would help shore that up.

I take both...59 mcgs synthetic t4 and 112 mgs...Armour. This way...I'm more equal to four grains instead of what you are doing at (3 grains) 180 mgs. See...AND it does help with symtpoms even though I'm still tweaking a bit.

My labs show my t4 at 100 percent and the t3 at about 142 %

NOT...saying you should do JUST like me. This is all highly individual..and I was able to get my TSH down to ..01
