Guest guest
My daughter had brachy and we banded her at 5 mo (starband). Brachy is really hard to correct via repo because there is usually a lot of extra width, and all you can really do is try to get all the new growth to go to the back of the head to improve the overall proportion. Our doc (cranio facial plastic surgeon) used cephalic index, so I'm not sure about her standard deviation. You can see her pictures in Our Plagio Babies S/ Sydney M. You'll see how her head improved a lot, but is still wider than normal. The band holds the sides, so the head doesn't get wider. She had a lot of improvement while in her band. We had a follow up visit 4 mo after she graduated, and although her head had grown, the proportions hadn't changed at all. So the new growth was pretty evenly distributed, and didn't improve her cephalic index. Also I would love for Sydney to have a perfect head - why not? But she doesn't. I wish I had know more about plagio/brachy when she was born. Good luck with your decision. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > We had our appointment with CT in NJ yesterday, and this is what the > result is. We have no asymmetry, but we have brachy.
