Guest guest
Two days ago Everett stood up completely un-aided (barefooted)... and remained standing for about five seconds. Not very long, but it's a start! Congratulations on your little ones getting up on their feet too! Just a note about the DBB, I took the padding off of his recently to clean it and discovered he gets around a lot better on the bar (cruising and standing in general) with the padding gone because the bar is flat where the padding put him on a rounded surface. He will " walk " now pushing his push-toys wearing his bar, actually walking instead of just standing there mostly stumbling around. s. Re: Bearing weight Hi , YEAH for you and ! I remember when first did this, now just this week she has learned to pull up -- WITH her full- leg cast on! Guest guest
That's great! Definitely a start, and that's actually listed that they might be able to stand unassisted for a very short time! I think I would consider that a milestone! I'll have to remember about the padding. Hubby actually got two seatbelt covers for adults. One was simulated sheepskin, and the other is fleece. The velcro on the sheepskin was both at the edges, but I didn't use the velcro, just wrapped it tightly around the bar. Then I took the fleece one and wrapped it tightly around the sheepskin one. The velcro on the fleece was different. One side was along the edge, but the other side was in further, so it had to be tight to get them to stick. I've not had any trouble at all with it staying on and it seems to work pretty well. He's not acutally hit himself in the head yet, but it's definitely better on my knees when he kicks me! and BCF 03/25/2004 DBB 23/7 Re: Bearing weight > > > Hi , > YEAH for you and ! Guest guest
I can't wait until he starts standing on his own and able to pull up. The next thing I'd really like to see though is him able to sit unsupported. He loves to sit up, but I obviously can't hold him constantly, even though I'd love to. : ) and BCF 03/25/2004 DBB 23/7 Re: Bearing weight > Hi , > YEAH for you and ! Guest guest
I know what you mean! He's doing so well now with his feet and his shoes. Hard to believe all the problems we had with his shoes not that long ago. He keeps trying to pull himself up to a sitting position, but he just can't do it yet. He's so determined though, so maybe he'll do it soon. and BCF 03/25/2004 DBB 23/7 Re: Bearing weight > That's great , Go ! Guest guest
lol, just hold the brace down when he does that so he can sit up :~} Darbi uses it as leverage to sit up. What fun things the DBB can be used for! I am positive she sat earlier than she would have otherwise because of the brace. She sat at 3.5 mo! Would sit there with her brace on leaning forward with it helping her stay upright. I don't think she knew she needed it for sitting so when she was not in it she would sit and lean on her hands too. So funny! Kori At 10:02 AM 8/5/2004, you wrote: >I know what you mean! Guest guest
I'll give that a try. When he's propped up on his boppy pillow, his head comes up when he's trying to sit, but then the legs and bar come up too! LOL He's actually sat alone for a very short time while leaning forward, but he generally falls over to one side or the other though rather quickly. It'll be nice when he can sit unsupported and be able to play with his toys, especially since he really, really wants to do this. and BCF 03/25/2004 DBB 23/7 Re: Bearing weight > > > > That's great , Go ! Guest guest
both my boys sat up extra early because of the casts/brace. Especially since he wore casts to 6 months old, their weight allowed him to sit up very early and then of course he learned hand/eye control a lot earlier too since he hands were there free as he sat. But the DBB made a difference on Everett also, using it as leverage as you said. s. Re: Bearing weight > > > > That's great , Go !
