Guest guest
It will probably hit me like a ton of bricks how scared I am as soon as the holidays are over but I am going ahead with a myo really soon! I don't think I would have had the nerve to do this, nor found a good surgeon if it weren't for this list. Thank you to all who have emailed me your stories, support and suggestions and especially to Carla for having this list. I have my pre-op appointment on Dec 30. I have been donating my blood pre surgery, 2 units total but I did get the impression the chances of needing it are pretty remote. I met with Dr. Levine last month (Arlington, Mass, 2 hrs away from me) and was very impressed by his apparent skill, as well as his bedside manner. I got all my questions asked although it was a busy office, he kept coming back in to see if we had any other questions. He even asked me if I wanted to get pregnant and this is only amazing if you knew how many times other OB's jumped to the " you need a hysterectomy " line. I am 42 and have one adopted daughter but I have no interrest in having a pregnancy myself...still , how respectful to be asked! : ) My uterus is sized at 27 weeks pregnant. I sure do feel like that some days. Can't wait to get it out but I'm fluctuating between the " I'll do fine " to " Something really dreadful will happen " , like I'll stroke out under anesthesia or something!! Thanks for all the tips on what to bring to the hospital, and that sort of thing. I eat a stange diet too so I am even bringing in my food. But I still have questions. For example, what is with the pink socks? i remember when I first started reading this list, everyone was talking about pink socks. Another question......when will I be able to have my daughter sit on my lap? she is 24 pounds but I will really miss reading to her and having her sit on my lap! This is so weird, but is the one thing that is making me teary going into this. To have to not lift her up is one thing, but when can I do the rocking chair ritual? anyway....january 5th ....thats the day....crack of dawn. wish me luck! maureen
