Guest guest
Oh Stop it, what are you like? I think in the long run the more the merrier as there is more of a likelihood of finding someone who shares the same thoughts/experience etc. Get individual e-mails - be brave delete the boring ones (hey I'm sure some people like Gerbils!!) and just be glad you are not in the same room as everyone where your boredom would show, unlike here where noone knows what you are deleting. Must admit I found deleting very difficult to start with, but after going no-mail due to the mounting mails, and missing out totally, I find it OK now. Please please let's keep the subject appropriate as it will help all concerned. the Gerbil disliker (no offence intended)
Guest guest
sorry i am such a stick in the mud aren't I? No answers please! I am just not very good at this yet! I am too honest and my feelings get hurt too easily- maybe i am in the wrong place as some of you don't seem to realise how hurtfully honest you can be! I always think that people hate me anyway i will try not to be so annoying and i will not post anything until i have read things more fully! Guest guest
, Of course people don't hate you! Why don't you just join in in threads about parenting & life, rather than creating new threads about the workings of the Yahoogroup? Yahoogroups isn't perfect, but the benefits waaay outstrip the negatives, IMO. There's nothing wrong with trying to improve things, but it is also very hard to please everyone (especially when you don't really know everyone) - most of us have just come to accept the way the list works, even if it is a little frustrating at times. This list is a lifesaver to me, so I will accept it on any terms, IYKWIM. I find the number of posts overwhelming at times, so I just don't try to read them all. I'll usually delete anything that's unread about once a day. I use Microsoft Outlook and, if I'm keeping up well, I just sort the posts chronologically. If I get a backlog (which happens everyday because I'm 5hrs behind you lot), I'll group them by subject and just look at the threads that appear interesting to me. I also have a rule set up that to alert me if I'm mentioned by name in a post. That way, I won't appear to be ignoring any posts that are directed to me (or about me). I hope you find a way that works for you. It is worth it! Joyce co-moderator Re: Re: NCT Groups! sorry i am such a stick in the mud aren't I? No answers please! I am just not very good at this yet! Guest guest
I'm using Outlook, rather than Outlook Express. In the Rules Wizard, you can select 'when specified words appear in the message', do such and such - in this case. mark as high importance. It puts a little red mark next to the message and also pops up a little window telling me that there are new messages of interest. Joyce That's a clever one - how do you set that up. *Joyce*. :-)
