Guest guest
Hey Steph, I had a sentinal and he took an additional 6 nodes - all neg. No, I don't have to wear a sleeve, but I guess, from what I read about it, you always have to be careful with that arm, forever. Any cuts, scratches, bites, even manicures (nail bed) have to be watched which could lead to lymphodemia (sp?) Also, no lifting of heavy objects or straining of that arm is recommended. I don't know if that is forever, but certainly for now anyway. Would be interested in what your onc says. Be well, Ellen > > How many nodes did you have removed? But I am still going to ask my oncologist > what he thinks about not wearing a sleeve since I am not having to do > the radiation in that area. Thanks for your info! Guest guest
I had 1 node removed and have to wear a sleve 8 hours a day, because of swelling in my arm. Guest guest
Ellen, Back in 1990 when I had my surgery I was told this was forever. Lymphedema doesn't have to start right away. I heard of a woman who close to being a 20 yr survivor that got lymphedema after all those years.
