Guest guest
Yes, you read right. His FM microphone was stolen out of his gym locker today. The cell phone was left, his wallet (with money and a few gift cards), aids/boots, and watch were all left in the locker untouched. As were all his clothes -- they were swimming today, so he left everything, even his aids with the FM boots still on them. Only the mic was taken. We are guessing that someone thought it looked like an MP3 player. My comment is that once the thief figures out it's not one, it'll get dumped into the nearest garbage can. " Following protocol " means going through every garbage can in the place ... should I mention that there are two dumpsters outside the school as well? And even if they find it in a garbage can, there's a good chance that it'll be doused by a half-consumed can of juice or ice tea. Right now Ian and his TOD are about to go into the principal's office to meet with him and the 504 officer. I've offered to come in, but have been told to stay put for the time being. I'm about to find out if they listened to me about carrying insurance on the FM system. (sigh) And I have often argued that gym lockers are not secure, but still it always spends gym class in a locker. One good hit to the base of a standard lock and it falls open, it happens all the time. The good news, they've already made the calls to set up a loaner to be brought in for Monday. What a way to end a week ... Ian sounds like he's about ready to either cry or slug someone. Cross yours fingers for us, Jill

Um, I think I'm going to be baking brownies for the custodial staff this weekend! They started with every garbage can or waste basket in every room of the school, while Ian and the TOD walked all of the hallways and looked under all the staircases and odd little corners where it could have been tossed. If that hadn't worked, then apparently it was off to the dumpsters ... not sure that they'd actually have go through them or just called it a loss. Thankfully it didn't come to dumpster diving. I am so-o-o-o relieved!! Jill
