Guest guest
Hi, My son Luca is 7 months old and has been wearing a StarBand for 11 weeks now. Since the start of treatment the helmet has not fitted properly, despite the orthotist's attempts to sort it out. There have been good results for the back of his head so far - his asymmetry has gone from 19mm to 9mm, but his facial asymmetry seems to be getting worse. The helmet has always twisted round so that his left ear gets bent over and the long bit at the side goes onto his cheek. Now it looks like the left side of his face is getting squashed - his eyes are different shapes and at different angles. I noticed it a few weeks ago but my husband couldn't see it, so I convinced myself I was just seeing things. Then my sister and a few friends asked me about his eyes, and I realised I wasn't imaging it. I have posted some pics of Luca in the 'L' album under 'Luca Joe'.. please could you give me your opinions? We have an appointment on Wednesday and I am going to talk to the ortho about it all, but I don't feel very confident about it. I have read other messages on here about the same thing happening and in one message I read that Orthomerica will provide a second helmet for free if the first helmet does not fit properly - is this true? We are in the UK and I wondered if the same applied to us? Any advice/help anyone can give will be gratefullly received. Faye, UK
