Guest guest
I hope you got the right Betty. When I was taking the statin, I felt a bit depressed and little forgetful. Developed arthritis in my left upper shoulder. When I became very hypo(was taking 20mg. a day) the pains started in my trapizeus muscles, then my legs and eventually to my feet. The pain was horrible in my feet when I walked. My FNP took me off the statin and in a few days I felt so much better. My dementia got worse too when I was very hypo. They wanted me to go back on them and I said " No " sandy wrote: I noticed you menitoned that you were on the statin drugs in another post. Can you please tell me how they made you feel? I'm really frustrated looking at all the prescription drugs they've loaded up my brother with since his bypass surgery, and it's quite scary as they are making him feel 'not so great'. Guest guest
Yep, you're the right Betty. :-) I'm wondering if that's not part of his problems. He says that his shoulders hurt? But he's done nothing to make them hurt. He's also had other problems, but I just wonder. He just called and said that he's also not got any feeling in his toes on the left foot, which keeps swelling? Sheesh, this is just so frustrating. SandyE~Houston Re: Betty? Guest guest
I don't know if statins affect the amount of thyroid that we get. I use to be on a statin support group and they told me that the pain usually starts in the shoulders. They told me to stop taking it. But my cholesterol was 304 so I had to do something about it. If your shoulders have been hurting, I would go off of it for a few days and see if they quit hurting. Then you could rule out the statin. I am not tryin to be bossy but that is what I would do. Cris wrote:so ?? Do statins affect the amount of thyroid - like armour, that we get? or do they affect the thryroid itself? What do they do? boy - my shoulders have been hurting for eons... and my t4 and t3 are well below the top of normal. they're 'in' normal, but they're low normal. Cris Re: Betty? Guest guest
As far as I know, he's only been on the statin since his release from the hospital, back on Dec 14th. He doesn't know if they gave it to him in the hospital, but he has two prescriptions for it now, after the second time he went into the hospital, a few days before Christmas Eve. Funny thing is, today I called him on the phone, and it's amazing how good he sounded! He didn't take the Statins at all and said he's not having any trouble breathing either. I think he's possibly overmedicated to begin with. Dr's LOVE to write prescriptions. He complained of being nauseated from one of the meds, and they immediately ordered him a bottle of Prevacid? rofl. I could really learn to hate dr's, ya know? The best thing I've heard him say, My brother that is, is that the dr's 'aren't listening to him' at all. He's learning that very quickly. They are just tossing scripts and expecting he's going home to be no more trouble. SandyE~Houston Re: Betty? I hope you got the right Betty.
