Guest guest
I don't get this Armour digestion thing. I mean if one takes it sublingually, it doesn't go through any digestive process. It just absorbs into the blood stream. So what's the problem then? Do the calcium agents get into the bloodstream & duke it out/clobber the piggy hormones or what? ----- Original Message ----- From: Betty Flager Betty Flager wrote:> Thanks!! Since you have been waiting an hour before you eat your cereal with milk has it made any difference on how your symptoms are or bloodtests results? I have heard to wait 4 hours, or 8 hours. Guest guest
Yes that all makes sense to me. Do you just swallow your Armour? I was putting in under the tongue when I started then started putting it between my cheek and gum. Only had toast for breakfast and coffee with a little creamer. I'm getting tired of not having my milk in the morning. That may be why my levels went all the way up to where I feel good in one months time. I am not sure about that. I thought I was going hyper again. Not yet though!! Anne wrote: Betty, No, I haven't noticed any changes in my symptoms or blood tests. - and I take my multivitamin at night. I'm guessing the thyroid hormone is already digested by the time I have breakfast. I think what's really important is being consistent. For instance, if you wash down your morning thyroid pill with a glass of milk every morning, you'll probably need a slightly higher dosage than you would if you took it on an empty stomach. If you change your routine, you might affect absorption. -Anne -Anne > > > > I put my pill between the cheek and gum as soon as I get up. How > > long should I leave it there? Guest guest
I don't get it either. If you do Armour sublingually, how long do you leave it there to get absorbed into the bloodstream? Guest guest
I've never taken Armour sublingually. I also don't see a problem with drinking milk with cereal in the mornings as I do it, but not on a regular basis. Now, IF I were taking a calcium pill, I'd not take it within 4 hours of taking Armour, but to me, that seems more reasonable. I've read many conflicting things on how long to wait to eat after Armour, and one of the dr's who impressed me the most on About.com said 30 mins after armour is taken, you could eat, so that's what I go with. When I was on the Time Caps labs pills, they don't melt, so I don't worry about it. I just chase them with water and be done with it. I'm not sure I think the time caps generic Armour was meant to be taken sublingually, so I just don't stress over it. I'm taking a break from the worrying over Armour versus the Time Cap Labs generic because I've just been under too much stress lately. I know that stress never served me well when I was hyperT/Graves, and it's about the same now that I'm taking thyroid supplements. My cousin returned a full bottle of name brand Armour Thyroid to me, so I switched to it. I've felt better, but not optimal, but I'm still thinking all the stress in my life right now is a contributing factor. I was doing very well until my brothers heart attack and 2 hospital stays. I'm just going to concentrate now on trying to get my life back in order, and going to see him a few times a week, taking prepared meals over to him so that I know he's eating healthy. Hopefully all this will settle down, but I'm not going to hold my breath. He's just had too many troubles for me to completely rest with his situation. I still think it's possible that he's hypoT, as he's just got so many things that I noticed long before the heart problems came to light. We are all reading the book, Left for Dead by Dick Quinn that Inga suggested, and I'm quite fond of this guys attitude about heart disease and all the drugs the dr's pump you full of. Any of this sound familiar? lol. This guy is just like us, sick and tired of being sick and tired. I told my brother that when he goes back to the dr, Wednesday, that I'd love for him to ask his dr's just how long they plan on him being on all these drugs, to get his cholesterol lowered? I'm very curious about that one thing. Most of us who are hypo do end up having problems with cholesterol, and I know that I instead of being sent to an Endo, or any dr who knew about hypoT, I was shipped off to have stress tests done, and EKG's, and the likes. Dr's are just so frustrating sometimes, when simple 'correct' bloodwork and symptoms tell so much more about the hypo. SandyE~Houston Re: Re: About drinking milk after Armour!! Guest guest
Does it make a difference where we put it? I put mine under my tongue. Should I put it between my cheek?
