Hello all,

First of all " THANK YOU " to all of you who wrote me, wished me well, and

sent me encouraging messages before and after my surgery. I wish I only had

the energy to respond to each one of you!! Every couple of days I checked

my email and your messages really made me smile!! This is such an awesome

group of people and an incredible support group not only for dealing with

our babies, but for us parents!! I am sorry it has taken me awhile to get

back online, but I'm am back now. It will be four weeks after my surgery

this Thursday and I'm feeling pretty good. Unfortunately the second and

third weeks we're the hardest for me, I really didn't have much energy to do

anything other than survive and take care of my babies the best I could???

Enough about me.... I want to tell you all a few things in the works!! First

of all I have received everyone's donation and will be sending them to Dr.

Ponseti this week. He will get them on Friday, so you're checks will be

deposited soon. Thank you all for being patient, I had a few people still

sending checks up until last week. We as a group raised $1025.00, not bad!!!

I can tell you that Dr. Ponseti is touched that we collectively made an

effort to raise money for him. I will send a copy of his response to all of

you when I get one.

As I told you all before the quilt is complete ( and beautiful I might add

), however I am going to wait until the November symposium to present it to

him. I hope this doesn't upset any of you, but let me explain why I've

decided to wait! I will still post pictures soon, but have had some

difficulty with my digital camera.

The symposium is planned for Friday, November 12th and Saturday November

13th!! Dr. Ponseti would love to have a luncheon on Saturday after the

symposium with as many parents that would like to come. I think he was a

little overwhelmed with all the events around his birthday in June and

adding one more event would be just to much. I wasn't actually sure if I

could go, but he called me today and wants me there so I will be there for

sure. He is very excited about the November symposium and would like to know

how many parents are planning on attending. He actually needs a few children

to model so to speak. He has asked me to gather information from the parents

and the children that will be attending. If you are interested and think you

can make it on Saturday, November 13th, please let me know ASAP!!! You can

email me on the list or straight to my email @ charity@.... He is

also planning time for me to talk about our non-profit Precious Little Feet

and I can't think of a better way to officially kick off the non-profit then

to present him with the quilt!! The setting just seems much more personal

and appropriate. I was really dreading just sending the quilt in the mail!!

It's not just the quilt it's the message behind it!! This quilt represents

babies from around the world who are dedicated to the Ponseti Method and

many who have traveled from all around the world to be treated by Dr.

Ponseti himself!!!

Again if you are interested and think you can attend the symposium on

Saturday, November 13th please let me know ASAP. I can't wait to meet many

of you in person!! Also if you have any further questions please let me

know. Thank you all for you continued support!!!

Charity,

Thank you so much for your work on the quilt!!! I bet it is

beautiful!!! And I think that the decision to wait until the

symposium is a wonderful idea!! I don't know if we are going to be

able to be there or not. It is all going to depend on what goes on

with Becky this summer. We leave to go see Dr. P tomorrow (yikes, it

is here already) and he may just be doing casts, or he may be doing

the ATTT...... if she is going to need the ATTT the kids and I will

be moving to Iowa, and I will be enrolling in school there.

Nov. 12 is Becky's bday, and I can't think of a better way to spend

it than with Dr. Ponseti!!! :)

Charity,

I'm glad to hear your recovery is going well. Presenting the quilt at

the symposium sounds like a wonderful idea. It will be a stretch for us

to come (yeah right!). We haven't missed a symposium here in Iowa City

yet and I'm not about to start now :).

Thank you so much for your work on the quilt!!! I bet it is

symposium is a wonderful idea!! I don't know if we are going to be

able to be there or not. It is all going to depend on what goes on

Nov. 12 is Becky's bday, and I can't think of a better way to spend

Hi Charity,

Being a new member on the list, I am a little lost with all this

info but it sounds like you are involved with something WONDERFUL!

Glad to hear you are doing well following your surgery :)

Is the symposium open to any parent/child undergoing the Ponseti

method, regardless of which doctor? My daughter just recently

switched to Dr. Herzenberg at Sinai hospital in Baltimore MD. I

don't know financially if it's even a possibility for me but I would

certainly LOVE the opportunity to meet some of the parents from this

board!!

Glad to hear that you are feeling better. I'm in awe like everyone

else with everything you have had going on recently. We were in Iowa

2 weeks ago for 's appointment with Dr. Ponseti. He asked us

about coming to the symposium and we are planning on going out for it

as 's next follow-up would be due around that time. I'm very

interested in going to the symposium for more education/info about

clubfoot and also to meet some of the parents from this board. So

count us in! I don't know if Dr. Ponseti has us on any type of list

yet. I too am excited about being present for the quilt presentation.

Thanks!

Hi,

I have been a wall flower listening to you chat for a week and a half now. That

was when my daughter found out that her baby girl that she is carrying has club

foot, or perhaps feet. At this time we need to learn everything possible to

make the right decisions for the fast approaching future. Please let me know

more about the Symposium. Is it for everyone? Would it be helpful for someone

whose baby is not born yet. Where is it and how do you sign up? By the way, I

am really impressed by this web site and all the love demonstrated here.

Hi Ursula,

Welcome to the group. When is your daughter due and where does she live?? We

have had many pregnant moms and family members join this group knowing that

a baby inutero will be born with clubfeet!! Let me first start by saying,

don't be overwhelmed by clubfeet it is really such a minor birth defect and

easily correctable. Congratulations on soon becoming a grandma!! The

symposium is open to anyone interested and yes it is a great learning

experience for all of us, but I think the timing of it is more important for

you right now. You will probably find most of your answers from this awesome

group!

I look forward to hearing from you,

Charity, I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling better following

your surgery. Continue to take it easy though and don't try to do

too much too soon!

Once again, thanks so much for all of your hard work with the quilt -

I'm sure that it is spectacular!!

I would love to come to the symposium with Owen - if not to take part

in the symposium itself, then to meet up will all of the great people

from this list!

In the video I watched about Club Foot from Dr. P 's office, it showed autopsy

photos of club footed children and adults (eeww) but they pointed out there is a

marked difference in calf-muscle shape and size in the club feet cases. Both my

boys have very thin calves compared to non-cf children around here as the video

indicated.

Symposium

Hi Ursula,

I just wanted to say that 's clubfoot (left) is quite a bit

shorter in length than her right foot at this point but she is

undergoing casting again and her foot is becoming straighter which I

think will decrease the size difference. I have not bought her any

regular shoes yet so I am not sure what the difference is if using

shoe sizes. As for her calf, it is a little smaller but you have to

know to look for it. One of my best friends still can't see the

difference! As for leg length, there has not been any difference

noted. The pediatrician measures her length at checkups using her

right leg but I don't think there is any difference.

I hope you and your daughter find this group helpful -- I know it has

been a wealth of advice and support to me in the short 3 weeks I've

been on here :)

> Hi Charity,

> Thanks for your reply. My daughter is due in December and lives in

Ft Wayne Indiana. She has been reading about Dr Ponseti's work and is

hoping to be treated by him. At this time she is trying to learn all

she can about club foot, therefore the reason why I wanted to know

more about the Symposium. If she is not able to travel the distance

because of the proximity to her due date her husband would like to

attend. If he is unable to leave her then my husband and I would like

to attend. So please let me know the details if you know them. It

appears from her ultrasound that her little girl has unilateral defect

and so far in her readings my daughter has come across information

testifiying that the affected foot and leg may be significantly

smaller and shorter that the other. I realize that each case is

different but do you know how significant this could be. Looking

forward to hearing from you again.
