That's going in my current newsletter. Good follow on from the

Abrams article I thought.

YOUR CLOTHES

1st baby – You begin wearing maternity clothes the minute your pregnancy is

confirmed

2nd baby – You wear your regular clothes for as long as possible

3rd baby – Your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes

THE BABY’S NAME

1st baby – You pore over the baby names books and practice pronouncing and

writing combinations of all your favourites

2nd baby – Someone has to name his or her kid after your great Aunt Mavis,

right? It might as well be you

3rd baby – You open a name book, close your eyes and see where your finger

points

PREPARING FOR THE BIRTH

1st baby – You practice your breathing religiously

2nd baby – You don’t bother practising because you remember that last time,

breathing didn’t do a thing

3rd baby – You ask for an epidural in your eighth month

THE LAYETTE

1st baby – You pre-wash your new-born’s clothes, colour co-ordinate them and

fold them neatly in the baby’s little bureau

2nd baby – You check to make sure that the clothes are clean, discarding

only those with the darkest stains

3rd baby – Who says boys can’t wear pink? We’re living in progressive times

aren’t we?

WORRIES

1st baby – At the first sign of distress – a whimper, a frown – you pick up

the baby

2nd baby – You pick the baby up only when her wails threaten to wake your

firstborn

3rd baby – You teach your 3-year-old how to wind up the mechanical swing

ACTIVITIES

1st baby – You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics, Baby Swimming and Baby

Singing

2nd baby – You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics

3rd baby – You take your infant to the supermarket and the dry cleaners

GOING OUT

1st baby – The first time you leave your baby with a babysitter, you call

home five times

2nd baby – Just before you walk out the door, you remember to leave a number

where you can be reached

3rd baby – You leave instructions for the babysitter to call only if she

sees blood

AT HOME

1st baby – You spend a huge chunk of every day just staring at the baby

2nd baby – You spend a bit of every day watching to be sure your older child

isn’t squeezing, poking or hitting the baby

3rd baby – You spend a little bit of each day hiding from the children

> DS1 will have his party on Sunday and we still haven't had replies

from 6 school friends, I am so fed up with people not replying to

invites!!!!<<

This is one of my main bug bears. I have had parties where people

just haven't replied and I have telephoned them the night before to

find out! It is so annoying because you have to cater for them just

in case because it would be awful to turn a child away just because

his/her parents didn't bother replying. Mind you, I have had

incidences where the invited child never took the invite home from

school so mum never knew anything about it.

Me, I always reply as soon as I get the invite! Mind you, at the

beginning of April, DS2 brought home an invite that was dated 14th

March! I immediately rang the mum, ready with apologies but it turned

out she'd got it wrong and had meant to put 14th April. Phew!!!!

I got it from the Weybridge & Oatlands newsletter (anyone here from that

branch?). They just have Anon by it, so I think it's one of those things

that does the rounds and is fair game. Think it was originally American due

to use of the word " regular " clothes rather than " normal " clothes.?
