Guest guest
I was wondering about that. At the time, I didn't see everything they had done and it didn't look that severe. I remember her having socks on, and not casts, and was kind of shocked. I don't remember them saying anything about casts, actually. How awful. Did they seek a second opinion? And you would expect a lot better from Rainbow Babies. My brother was there right after birth over 20 years ago - they've always had an excellent reputation, as far as I can remember. Joanne, where are you from? I used to live in Mansfield - my parents still do - but now am in Buffalo. 11.23.03 > I saw the episode on clubfeet on A Personal Story. Guest guest
It seems so many doctors think their version of serial casting IS the Ponseti Method, and it's frustrating. Non-Ponseti doctors seem to approach serial casting as simply a sugar pill to apease the parents before they go to the meat of the matter .... surgery. Yet deep down the doctor planned to operate all along. The difference I noticed between my two son's treatments were this: The 1st doctor (my 1st son) would CRAM the foot in to a " normal " looking position and cast it in place. I'd have to physically restrain my son for this, he would scream in terror and in pain something so bad my chest actually hurt and I'd be sick to my stomach and he would cry for days afterwards. Obviously this is the child with very poor feet now who required the ATTT later on. On my 2nd son whom we went with Dr. Ponseti from the beginning, the doctors very gently manipulate teh feet, feeling every tiny bone and making sure they are all where they need to be very precise before casting, and there is no pain involved. And obviously again, this child has very nice feet. Parents who think all casting is created equal really need to educate themselves and listen to all these real-life stories on this posting board. We're not making it up when we say there is a very REAL difference between serial casting and the TRUE Ponseti Method of serial casting. jmtcw. s. A personal Story I saw the episode on clubfeet on A Personal Story. The family was from Rainbow Babies Hospital ??? in Cleveland OH. I'm from OH. As I recall the baby was only 8 weeks old and they did a more invasive surgery maybe a ATTT. The doctor said it was the only option. She had a lot of scares after it was over. I was very angry and was yelling at the tv and actually crying for the family and child because she did not have to go through that. I just wish more doctors would learn the ponseti method. We went to our local ortho just for a recheck. I told him about the symposium in Nov. hoping that he would be interested, but no luck. Guest guest
Yes, I remember this episode as well - she did do the ATTT and I do remember seeing the little girl in AFO's rather than the DBB. Like you, I yelled at the tv and wanted to call the show producers immediately and tell them they had it " all wrong " - Holly Zachary 7/27/02 #2 1/8 -- In nosurgery4clubfoot , Joanne Fuller wrote: > I saw the episode on clubfeet on A Personal Story.
