Guest guest
I am just so afraid of a relapse, she just got out of the last cast on Monday. I remember that when we used to see a different doc and take the casts off the night before, you could see changes in her foot. Do you really think she would be okay until then? Guest guest
Wow, that's impressive. Kaitlin went a few weeks, maybe 1 month without braces and had to be recasted for 3 weeks and almost have a tenotomy. That is assuming that the last doctor had her foot fully corrected in the first place. I guess that is why I am so hesitant. I feel so fortunate that we didn't have to have a tenotomy and I hate to press our luck. I am keeping a vigilant watch on her feet and she does go a good amount of time without the shoes to let the spots heal everyday....I guess it depends on the foot?? Guest guest
If will have the sandals in the mail that quickly, why not let her run free and heal until they arrive? I doubt that much down time will hurt anything - I had to do it waiting for my shoes and Everett suffered no ill effects but his feet were able to heal up. s. Kaitlin Update Hi everyone, Just thought I would fill you in on Kaitlin's beautiful feet. We went back to the DBB this week. The sores are coming back, AGAIN. So I broke down and ordered the sandals. I talked to and he thinks he can have them in the mail by Monday. Hopefully her skin is still intact by then. I am keeping her in the shoes as much as possible and I have tried everything I can think of the prevent the sores. I guess all I can do is watch and wait. Guest guest
Shoot don't get me lying to you - I just know it didn't hurt Everett any, kwim? He actually went a few weeks out of them because they kept chewing his feet to hamburger and the pressure sores infected. We tried a different pair of Markell shoes but had the same results. We saw Ponseti a few weeks after the shoes arrived (and Everett had been wearing them faithfully) and Ponseti said his feet looked perfect at that time. s. Guest guest
I am so sorry for you and Kaitlin! My suggestion is this - at the very first sign of blistering, take the shoes off and leave them off. Use regular tennishoes in the interim if there is no actual sore. The sandals can help correct residual lack of correction in difficult feet, so I am sure they can help correct minor relapse due to being out of the brace for a couple days. If you are not completely comfortable with it, call her ortho or Dr Ponseti for verification. Best of luck to you and her! It is tough having to deal with problems from something that is supposed to help. Angel Kaitlin Update Hi everyone, Just thought I would fill you in on Kaitlin's beautiful feet. Guest guest
I would soak Everett's sores in Epsom Salts and it seems to help a little. s.
