IT was rather funny as my sister had rung me about 30 mins earlier as she her partner and her daughter had been to the dress rehearsal that afternoon (all my family is in Denmark) and she said either Denmark, Sweden or Malta will win.. as it was Sweden and Malta didn't do that well but they did get high scores from Denmark. I would love to know what you have to do to shut up Terry Wogan he REALLY annoys me and it annoyed me even more when there was the shut of the Danish Royal palace where he was saying OH he is late for the KING.. Denmark has a Queen and has had since 1972 AND she is on 5 of the 7 coins that they have there so I really felt he should have known that. Also he made no comment to the fact that you actually can get that close to the Royal palace that you can touch it.. (unlike Buckingham Palace) My dh commented that what was a great shame was that Terry Wogan didn't seem to realise that like the English the Danish have a great deal of irony in their humour and that kind of meant that he lost a lot.. I noticed at the end that AD was credited as scriptwriter along with Jez somebody. I always assumed that he just delivered somebody else's scripts. My 11 year old daughter even voted for it because she thought one of the dancers was " fit " and the Estonian lead singer looked like one of her cousins. It was better than the UK entry anyway! Wogan is SOOO funny according to my DH, and I can se why a Brit would think so, but he fails to realise that it would be 10 times more informative (and sometimes more funny!!) if he actually knew what he was talking about, understood the jokes, got his details right, etc etc OK, so I'm a biased foreigner, but still!! Which leads me onto the subject of Eurotrash - another one of DH's favourites. DH claims he DOES understand that it's just done for a laugh and is very exaggerated... but it's not exaggerated - it's false...! It really really annoys me that they take film footage completely out of context, add on false, silly voice-overs, and present it as 'normal' for that culture. DH calls me a sad spoil-sport... but it could have been so interesting.... showing all these weird people in their real context, with their real voices... instead of reducing everything to farse...
