Guest guest
Creative help needed Antenatal teachers run antenatal classes Breastfeeding counsellors have their breastfeeding line but our trained workers in the postnatal area don’t really have a title for the things they do Postnatal discussion leaders (as they are called now - and possibly they will be called postnatal group leaders in future) facilitate support between groups of mothers with new babies - they do not act as the expert - although they are very knowledgeable but instead aim to increase the confidence of new parents by helping them to come to their own solutions through talking with others in the same situation. It is very skilled work and parents that have the benefit of attending a group run by one of our trained postnatal workers are very grateful - in fact those branches lucky enough to have their own postnatal worker often find it is the postnatal groups that produce the most active and long serving NCT members for the branch! We need to find a good name for the groups that these workers run postnatal discussion group is a very off putting name which means little to parents - so what should we call them ? ideas please suggestions so far are early days groups/classes/drop in new baby group new parents group parents together new mothers group the first 6 months group after birth? ( JOKE) life after birth we need to think of something that will means something to parents and that we can make postnatal’s own title.
