Guest guest
I just thought I would share this story about my little stinker and her FAB.... Livie will be three in October, but is currently in the FAB 16 hours a day due to a relapse a few months ago. She does 14 hours overnight and an additional 2 hours in the afternoon. Livie hasn't napped regulary in a few months time, so usually she is awake when she has her afternoon brace time. I was really worried about how her daycare provider would handle Livie in her brace. I wasn't worried about her putting it on Livie because I gave her instruction and watched her do it to make sure she was getting it on properly, but I was worried because Livie can't walk in the darned thing and insists on being carried. (Crawling is too slow for my little one.) Carol (the dcp) has told me for the last several months that things are going well and that Livie doesn't have any problem in the brace and that she is quite able to get around. We never specifically discussed whether or not she could walk in the brace because she doesn't do it when she is at home. She crawls everywhere or insists on being carried because " I tan't walk in my bace, Mommy. " The other day I went to pick her up from daycare and she didn't see me there and there she was just practically running around in it!! I said " Livie, what are you doing? " She promptly sat down on her butt and told me she couldn't walk in her brace and I had to carry her! Stinker!! I've read all the stories here of older kids and how they have no problem getting around, but I really thought Livie just wasn't coordinated enough to do it. Turns out she was playing me the whole time!! lol Jen & Livie (10-18-01 severe left clubfoot)
