Guest guest
Hi! Let me introduce myself. I have a 9 yr old son and a 4 month old daughter. My daughter has mild/moderate positional plagio on her right side. We had out first apt with the neurologist this past week. She is currently 18 weeks old. I noticed the flat spot at her 2month check up but our pedi told me it would correct itself, at her 4 month check up I felt it was worse so he referred me to a neurologist for reassurance. Was this the right kind of dr? He looked at her head and took x-rays. Said the sutures are open although she does have some calcium build up on her one plate due to the overlap or pressure from the other plate. He did not measure the sides of her head or anything else and honestly seemed clueless about the bumbo seat or exersaucer. so I am kinda questioning his ability to accurately diagnosis her head. His recomendation was to keep her off her head as much as possible. Put her to sleep on her tummy or other side but that we would probably not see any difference until 6-7 months after she has been sitting up more. She has reflux so I am concerned about putting her on her tummy to sleep but even worse - he said that she was out of the risk for SIDS. I have an appt with her pedi tomorrow to discuss this along with a few other things but I just wanted your opinions too. We do have a follow up appt with the neurologist in 2 months but he said that if the repo did not work that he still would not recomend the band because it would be purely for cosmetic reasons. Any advice on how you propped your babies up to get them off their flat spot would be great. She is so long now that we are going to be moving her out of her infant carrier in the next few weeks so I plan to switch which side of the car it is on - but how did you prop them off that side of their heads? travel pillows? towels? what did you use? I am about to post a photo of her head in the repo section under Madison so you can get a better idea of what I am referring to. Thanks in advance for your help! Sorry this got so long.
