Guest guest
Hi, I know what you are going through. The first two weeks Rose pulled her feet out all the time. Everymorning one foot or the other was out. We just tightened the laces more and made sure we used all the shoelace holes. But once the shoes softened up and she got used to wearing them, it was okay. After that, the only time she pulled her foot out was if she was really grumpy. Although on one memorable occaision, Rose was sitting on my lap with her feet dangling down. I was drinking my morning coffee not paying much attention to her and I here this THUMP! I looked down and the DBB was laying on the floor. Both shoes were laced and buckled. She just decided she didn't want to wear them anymore and wiggled her feet until they came off! Best of luck, Robin & Rose 3/12/03 Right club foot. mgbmommom maggiebecker@...> wrote: Hello. I'm having to replace it evey 1-2 hours, usually on the clubfoot, but sometimes for both feet. It came off after the doctor first put it on, and also when the orthotist did (both times it was off by the time we got to the car.) Do I need different socks (using Old Navy) or more padding? Buckle more tightly? Thanks.

Guest guest
Congratulations on your new son! My advice would be to first make sure his feet are flat in the shoes and the shoes are strapped and and the laces tied tightly. Obviously, don't cut of circulation, but get them as tight as you can. The strap is the most important part because it holds the foot in place. The laces help hold the foot in the shoe. We had a problem for a while with keep our son's feet in the shoes. We were told that young babies don't have good heel definition yet, so their feet don't stay in shoes very well. Your orthotist should be able to add padding to the shoes above the heels that will help keep the feet in the shoes. Keep in mind that if they do this, his feet will not sit all the way back in the shoe, but they should still be flat. Also, is your doctor sure his feet are fully corrected? Others here have said that if they're not fully corrected, this could cause his feet to not stay in his shoes. But, if your doctor is following the Ponseti method and knows what he is doing, the cause is probably his heel definition at this age. Give your orthotist a call and see about having the padding added. I'm surprised they didn't do this since the shoes came off for them. Kori posted a list of helpful tips for getting the shoes on correctly and if you have been lurking for a while, you probably have them. They are definitely very helpful. We finally cut holes in the backs of 's shoes so we can see where his heels are, and that is very helpful. I know they're going on right and I can check them throughout the day to make sure they're still on correctly. and BCF 03/25/2004 DBB 23/7 New Shoe User > Hello. Guest guest
Hi- This usually only happens under two circumstances. The foot isn't fully corrected or the shoe is too big. If you know the foot is fully corrected then go down a shoe size. My son is unilateral left and his clubfoot is a 1/2 size smaller than his normal foot. Everytime I get him new shoes for the DBB I have to leave the old shoe on for a month longer on his cf foot before transferring him to the new shoe because his foot will just slip out of it. His normal foot always grows faster than his CF foot. This is only a problem with the DBB shoes. I rarely have a problem with regular every day shoes. > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: New Shoe User >Date: Mon, 05 Jul 2004 03:32:45 -0000 > >Hello. Guest guest
I remember back when Owen got his first pair of shoes, we had to punch an extra hole into the strap because his feet were small and narrow (he was and still is a skinny little guy). This stopped the stopped the problem. Could be worth a try. Hope this helps, Daiga and Owen, 02/04/03 Unilateral LCF, FAB 14/24 > Hello. Guest guest
Teaching the baby to kick both feet together rather than separately is a tip the dr. gave me to help avoid the slipping problem. Everett picked up on it real quick, we'd just hold the bar and show him how to kick both feet together. s. Re: New Shoe User Hi, I know what you are going through.
