3 wheel pushchairs

These are a hazard in the supermarket/shops - the front wheel sticks out and

people don't see it.

I'd seriously contemplated getting one as where we live is slightly rural, and

to walk to the new Waitrose is about 40 mins half of which you do across fields

and the Silver Cross pushchair wheels aren't up to the mud - its on a flood

plain. Also we have an old Foden lorry we take to steam rallies, some of these

are held in stubble fields complete with mud/dried ruts/large flints depending

on the weather and location, not that there are any this year due to F&M.

But I soon realised about the 3 wheelers as I tripped over yet another wheel

they don't do the supermarket, doors are difficult as they're too long to open

the door with one hand and push the chair through with the other. Your space

below is limited, and they're very expensive as second hand ones are hard to

come by as they're a bit of a fashion accessory. Many don't fold up/won't fit

in the (small not off road) car either, though as we only have one ageing Shogun

that wouldn't have been an issue for us (nearest thing DH could find to a

tractor several years before he bought the MF65 MkII).

If I've not put you off I'd seriously yourself ask WHY you want one, and what

you're going to use it for, and be honest WILL you use it off road?

So instead we bought one of those American trailers with the red wooden sides

that you can take off. DD sits on a cushion, enough room for a very large bag of

shopping or 3 bags if she walks. It also has a multitude of uses around the

garden transporting various things about, she can be taken up to the swing park

with a friend sitting in it. And to quote the teenage yobs sitting on the fence

of the swing park 'Really Cool transport - where did you get it?'

http://www.country-catalogue.co.uk/berlin.htm which is the web site of a local

shop Nicksons who do all sorts of outdoor gear.

We got the middle sized Berlin Express with the pneumatic wheels for Tamsins

first birthday - and she loves it, doesn't try to climb out like she does the

pushchair. Its brilliant goes over any terrain fast without tipping. Cheaper

than most decent 3 wheelers too.

As well as a cheapo umbrella buggy we also got Zoe's chariot. It is a

two seater bike trailer, which converts into a double buggy. It is

wonderful, the seats are big enough for DS3, who is 8, to sit with DD

(if none of his friends are in sight) and it has a boot.

Zoe and I take it to Sainsbury's if we are doing the week's shopping

there (I push the trolley home from Waitrose otherwise). We can cram

it with all the food 3 boys demand, and it is easy to push.

When she out grows it we can still remove the seats and use it as a

bike trailer. My only grumble is that the only bike it hitches up to

is DH's recumbant...
