Guest guest
, Here are a few sites on Ilizarov methods. http://pages.ivillage.com/clubfootboard/clubfootlinks/id9.html Dr. Herzenberg is probably one of the most experienced doctors in the use of Ilizarov types of methods in the U.S. if not the world. He had been considering the use of Ilizarov type methods for the initial treatment of clubfoot in the mid 1990's until he found out about the Ponseti method. I know that he has in the past occasionally used Ilizarov type methods for clubfeet that had relapsed after a prior surgery but was not aware that he was considering Ilizarov to treat relapsing before having had a surgery. My guess is that he would feel that the use of Ilizarov would be better than having to do a posterior release type of surgery. In the past few years, there have been a few parents on the internet in the U.S. and U.K. who have mentioned using Ilizarov type methods. I met some of those parents at a clubfoot meeting in the U.K. last November. I beleive that all of those parents were using Ilizarove after a prior surgery. I remember that they indicated that having the Ilizarov frame on was not easy. My guess is that Dr. Herzenberg has his reasons for feeling that the use of Ilizarov make be of help in your situation. and (3-17-99) > At 07:39 PM 5/8/2004, you wrote: > >Has anyone had experience here with external fixators, relating to > >the Ilizarov type fame?
