Guest guest
It may be a symptom. But not because the liquid isn't being absorbed. In order for you to urinate, liquid is absorbed into the bloodstream and then filtered out by the kidneys and into the bladder. > > I'm just asking because it happens to me alot. Guest guest
One more thing... Now that I think of it.... before I went GF, I retained fluid. It was slight, but I still retained fluids. I would have urges to go and it wouldn't be that productive. Now that I am GF, I do urinate more than before. A lot more. Looks like the best thing to do right now is talk with my doctor. For those wondering, I am a 35 year old male who was diagnosed with celiac disease back in September 2005. Guest guest
Haven't been following this thread completely but has anyone mentioned the possibility of a different food allergy besides your celiac issues? When DS was three and not potty training very well we also had him tested for delayed reaction food allergies and came up with soy, egg, banana and a few others. They were called a Type 3 allergy I think, which is an IgG one not the immediate hives and anaphylaxis you get with IgE. Anyway, we took him off of the offenders and " Hallelujah! " no more accidents of either kind within 36 hours. Bionutritionist explained that the delayed allergies can cause internal inflammation and swelling. But I would also still check out the diabetes possibility. That one is too serious to ignore. And a lot of gf food substitutes wind up being high glycemic ones if we are not careful. I also have it happen to me if I get glutened or if I'm simply constipated. My very-uneducated guess is that it has something to do with inflammation perhaps? Because that's mainly what happens to me when I get glutened - general inflammation.
Guest guest
I've had this problem recently, too. I live my life on the verge of dehydration. I'm 42 and suddenly peeing like crazy. I peed so much I know I had to be more than dehydrated, but my urine was barely colored. My FIL is diabetic so he has a test kit, but my sugar was normal (85 first thing in the morning). I never did figure out what it was, but it went away. It could have been an infection of some sort because after it started, I went to my doctor with an overall bad feeling, and coughing. He put me on antibiotics for 10 days. It took a week longer than the meds, but it's back to having some color, and I'm still drinking the same amount. --loriann aka Victree the Christian clown

Guest guest
> > I'm just asking because it happens to me alot. Could it be that liquid > is just passing right through me and not being absorbed? Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis is characterized by excessive eosinophiles and other lyphocytes around the upper GI. During the 'gluten' stimulated reaction Gluten-food peptides are presented to the immune system, sometimes food particles and food antigens leak into the periteneal cavity stimulating acites accumulation around the upper GI. This fluid and swelling in not part of the circulation. You can be clinically dehydrated (as I was many times) and have a gallon of retained fluid swimming around your GI. The first trip I made to the hospital I was feeling really bloated, unable to digest, my weight was 183 lbs, after tossing 18 hours worth of food from my stomach, I checked myself into the hospital, the IV resulted in Diarrhea for 2 days and extreme bouts of urination and 3 days later my weight measured at the same time of day was 169 lbs. The GI doctor (who BTW made an incorrect DX) told me I was lying, and that the sudden unexplained rupture of my stomach was a fluke. From that time till I went GF, I would gain weight for several days, and then suddenly start urinating in some cases I would go to the bathroom 10 times a night (It was a good feeling, despite the way it sounds) and ussually preceded or followed a bowel movement (every 3 to 9 days). After Going GF, I have noticed that food allergies have a similar response although nowhere near as severe. The ascites accumulation is out of the picture, but allergens can cause an allergic response, retained fluid (elevated blood pressure), which when resolved for me has a mild increase in urination. Since the muscles that control the urge to urinate are close to the lower bowel, irritation of the lower bowel as a result of allergic responses can trigger a premature urge to urinate. This happens to me alot, after defecating having to return to the restroom five minutes later to urinate. This tells me I am having problems with an allergen and to watch the diet carefully. Other than that spicey foods can also cause problems (so I've heard :^) ).
