I had a job like that a couple years ago. Now I'm fortunate and I'm

the boss in a different store. All I can say is push yourself to do

it. Or maybe take some ibuprofen to relieve the aching. When I had

my job a couple years ago I honestly wasn't worried about exercising

cause I thought I looked good and I was healthier than now. Could

you maybe move up to a different position so you don't have to stand

behind the register?

I work in retail too... I try to do what I can, as far as exercise goes, when

I am behind the register. When I am not ringing anyone up I will march in

place and pump my arms (a little, I don't need customers to think I am nuts!

Waving my arms all over the place!!) ;-) I have a short piece of 2x4 that I

stand on with just the front part of my foot and do what I call " toe-lifts " I

lift

my heels up and down, lowering them below toe level and lifting them above

toe level (you can really feel it in your legs).... I am sure there is another

name for it, I just can't remember what it is. I also spend as much time

cleaning shelves and moving around as I can.

OH! I also get the bulk of my exercising in on my days off. I will also try

my best to get in a good solid 30-45 mins BEFORE I go to work. I'll do my

Pilates tape, or my step routine.... It's better than trying to persuade myself

to do it after work.

I've really found that doing some type of workout (I can't do much because

of my chronic pain condition) AFTER I've eaten dinner is good!

I feel like I am gearing towards what has come in, and it's a motivator.

And I allow myself a few fiber cookies at late night when reading in bed.

It's easier since I'm home, but there's always so much else to do, and some

days I am really handicapped, so it's hard to work out regularily.

I have the AbDoer, and REALLY like it!!

Does anyone else have this?

Hi,

I know all of us who work can have issues with excersize sometimes

whether it be just being too tired at the end of the day to not

finding the time literally to do the excersize which is something I

currently struggle with.

I wanted to say I have done retail work at one time in my life. I

wanted to say that the kind of shoes you wear are so important. I

remember when I was working retail my feet would ache so much when I

got home from standing all day. I finally got some support shoes and

it made all the difference in the world. Honestly! You just might

find you can fit that excersize in better. Give it a try.

When I worked retail, it helped to have a small box on the floor that you

can use to shift your weight. For me, it greatly reduced my leg and back

strain. Also, make sure you wear really good supportive shoes. It's very

important. Try to take little stretches between customers to stay

limber, or pace around behind the register. Lift your legs on and off a

box or do squats if no one is around. It's hard, I know, and you have to

sneak things between customers, but it does work in relieving soreness.

Don't forget to stretch your neck and shoulders too, as tension can build

up there by standing in one place for a long time. Just my 2 cents.
