Guest guest
Topper: It sounds like you are gonna have to get out the pill stretcher. Buy some kelpy, bladderwrack..licorice herb pills from local supplement store for five bucks (they activate thyroid hormone and STRETCH it). Do take some synthetic t4...(just enough to keep light tendon pain)... Do take some syntethic t3 to fill in the gaps later in the day..maybe your last two doses or something... Take that adrenal med you have..(It will also aid in stretching..). Try to keep your diet going as smoothly as possible...take plenty of showers...relax a lot, sit in the sunshine a little if possible and sing to yourself. Keep expecting it to all work out.. (maybe in the end..you will learn something really helpful about your protocol that you didn't know before. Soon you will be sitting all pretty again!!! Guest guest
I think you answered your own question about whether or not to take the synthetic for now: “The synthetic does work well enough (taking both T4 and T3) to keep my brain, mood and emotions in good order.” Sure hope it gets straightened out soon. I am such a packrat/hoarder that it actually carries over to my meds, so I have 3 months of all my meds on hand — goes back to when I was a kid and had nothing – not even food for the day... Survivial skills come in handy when we grow up. Keep the faith! Sue

Guest guest
it is a tough call with the T4, I would think for now I would shelf it.. and maybe try replacing some doses with the synthetic T3..not the same and it will lower your T4 but not sure if T4 is doing you much good for anything anyways. At least with synthetic T3 your body will use it..not to the same degree but it will keep you going. Other than hurry up and get your meds I wish I had an answer for you. Do you have enough food in the freezer for mini meals that you do not have to be cooking on Fridays in this heat? Guest guest
WOW.....at least things are starting to try to flow your way thankfully!!! To help with the cramps, can you try magnesium, has that ever helped? I've also got this stuff ( tastes AWFUL ) that I got from a woman that used to be a friend of mine and it's called KM. It's an herbal concoction and I take it when I get restless legs. I forgot that I had 'nanners in the fridge.....duh. It helped take away the restless and I was actually able to sleep. I'll have to see if I can find the link. I'm not sure what a bottle costs, she said she gave it to me at her cost which was $25. You only take 2T mixed in water at a time. I use it for this and allergy flareups. I usually take about a year to go thru a bottle of it. I'll be back with the link. You're still in my prayers, and it looks like they're starting to work! Guest guest
I'm just so chicken to be going back on the T4... today I decided to skip it... I'm a bit tired... and when it comes up to doing stuff that involves being up and about... I just don't have a desire..... I dont' know how much of that 'feeling' is real and how much I'm imagining into it.... But so far I'm doing what I'd normally do... just a bit slower and not multi-tasking so much.... Cooking doesn't bother that much... I just take it in stride... pace myself.... I made a big pot of stew stuff for the weekend... something that I can eat hot or cold.... And dropped down the portion sizes.... I have to watch to not let it drop down too much, calorie wise... I don't want to throw off my metabolism.... I have quite a few meals of stew type stuff down in the freezer.... stuff that I've played around with to be eaten hot or cold.. that comes in handy... I have a bunch of chocolate pudding down there too that I made yesterday, did it the lazy way with my handy dandy high chair so I could sit by the stove.... hehehehehe so I have deserty things... it's already portioned and frozen... I did them about a third smaller (portion size) that what I had been doing.... It sucks how quick my body reacts.... right now it's time to eat.. and I just don't want to.... argghhhh I didn't get the afternoon slumps/sleepies... so I didn't do any T3 yet... but if my tummy is still slow tomorrow I'll be adding some in just to keep the body function good... sigh... didn't figure that I'd have to refigure stuff...... hhehhe but, I can't remember who mentioned it... E maybe? That this might be a chance to get some new insight for how my body is doing with everything in flux and trying new things.... Got to keep the mind focused on the positive aspects and not so much on the bad stuff.... I got the letter sent off to Customs today... it was dropped right at the post office and will go out on today's truck... so I got really lucky with that, the timing it getting it run into town so quickly! This morning started out a bit cooler than it has been.. there was a storm front just north of us so the clouds were keeping the sun off us for a few hours... I went out and played with the water hose for a while, watering a hedge and a flower patch to keep things going until the rain comes back, we've let the lawn go dormant... it will come back with the rain... we're in severe drought here now...... So that was kinda nice... playing in the water like a kid!!! heheheheh (which involved leaning against a tree and 'accidently' back spraying myself and getting wet, but hey..... I'm old.. that's playing!! heheheheh) Topper () On Sat, 29 Jul 2006 06:21:21 -0000 " kats3boys " writes: > it is a tough call with the T4, I would think for now I would shelf > it.. and maybe try replacing some doses with the synthetic T3..not > the > same and it will lower your T4 but not sure if T4 is doing you much > good for anything anyways. At least with synthetic T3 your body will > use it..not to the same degree but it will keep you going. > Other than hurry up and get your meds I wish I had an answer for > you. > Do you have enough food in the freezer for mini meals that you do > not > have to be cooking on Fridays in this heat? > > Kats3boys
Guest guest
The stuff that you're suggesting are gland stimulators... I don't have a gland to stimulate... but the adrenal will help..... and keeping stress in check is also going to help a LOT... the more stress, the more the hormones are thrown out of whack the more the lack of thyroid hormone is going to tell... and the more my body will be using it up to deal with stress instead of all the other stuff it needs to be doing.... Since I'm so used to dosing every few hours... I've decided to not let my 'internal body clock' for those dose times get out of whack... when that time roles around I get to stop whatever I"m doing and instead of reaching for a pill box I get to do something fun..... Be it to play a game of Tetris..... or to listen to part of one of the geeky podcasts that I've downloaded..... or to get up and walk around the house.... Just something.. anything.. to acknowledge the times that are ingrained in my brain without making it a reminder of what I'm supposed to be doing...... I may be weird... but it's letting me do a positive at that time mark instead of making it a negative.... So far... so good..... The fewer negatives I allow in... the better I'll do both physically and mentally..... The hard part will be journalling and charting...... if my numbers start dropping.... if the symptoms come back.. that will be a HUGE negative... but the data I'll collect... it will be of value for later...... sigh.... I have fun with my hair in the heat... it's long... so it's hot.... I don't like the bother of braiding.... and it's too warm to pile on top of my head... so I do hair wraps... I've been doing them for something like ten or twelve years now..... I'm using a VERY pretty blue yarn for the wraps.... it may look dorky.. but it's cool, I can sleep in it... and it beats the heck out of sweaty wet hair!!! heheheheheh If you aren't familiar with hair wraps... it's like the leather wraps that some Indians used way back when... the hair is smoothed into a 'pig tail' on either side of the head and the length of leather, or in my case a colored yarn, is wrapped around the hair all the way down to the end and then I tie mine in a bow.... They are very comfortable to sleep in, so it's cooler sleeping too..... and easy to get out so very little damage to the hair, in fact less than if I were braiding it.... Guest guest
Two things come to my Dear Lady of the pigtails: I know that the bladderwrack kelpy stuff is often times referred to as "gland" stimulators because in most cases people do have a gland. It is my experience..(could be wrong) that many people take them get an actual increase the "activity" of whatever thryoid hormone you have on board. I've seen bloodwork jump 5 points on the t4 scale when taking adaptogens (maca, ginseng, licorice root, bladderwracky stuff...and such), and this with folks who had TT's. Maybe you found that you already tried this angle and didn't work for you??? One this has been clear to me, not all of this stuff is really created equal. I have bought some supplements that don't agree with me in the least! The last time I got well...I took a herbal mixture supplement and I was doing really well. I've begun to think this stuff may actually help "push" the thryoid hormone into the thryoid receptors more efficiently, and for the last year, this may be what I've been missing from my protocol. It seems to "zip" up the activity of the thryoid hormone quite a bit. Five minuetes after I took one a this afternoon...I actually felt warmth coursing through me... Maybe its my imagination... I did see you mentioned that you have ZERO cash too..so I guess you won't be able to explore this as a possibility EVEN if you wanted to right now. I was interested to know if you noticed on which dose of the t4 addition, did you find the tendon pain showing itself? I have terrible tightness and tendon pain if I'm over 58 mcgs. I recenlty reduced it from 62.5 and it was like someone taking me out of a straightjacket. Did you find a similar situation? ~E:) . topper2@... wrote: The stuff that you're suggesting are gland stimulators...
