Guest guest
Congratulations!!!!! I can't wait to see the pictures. Angie Went from Severe to Normal in 6 weeks- graduated!! I am so excited! My son went from a 17 mm asymetry to a 2mm asymestry in just 6 weeks!! He had a HUGE growth spurt right when we banded (6.5 months )that made all of the difference.(and lots of 3 AM feedings!) They told us he would be in it for 3-4 months, but looks like he gets to graduate early. Yay!For what it is worth we used Hanger prosthetics and were very pleased with the results. I will post pictures ASAP.Just wanted to share!
Guest guest
WOW! That is great correction. I get really confused when I hear a child improving that much when my son outgrew his helmet after just 5mm improvement. Anyone know why that is?!? > > Congratulations!!!!! Guest guest
If you don't wear your band 23 hours per day you can get growth in the wrong areas and outgrow the band without resolving the asymmetry. There might be other situations too, but that is one way to outgrow a band with minimal correction. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > > > Congratulations!!!!! Guest guest
Your post makes sense. I still wonder what happened in our situation as we kept all our appointments, our son wore the band faithfully 23 hours/7, etc. Maybe 5mm with a DOC band is accurate amount of growth in 8 weeks?!? I guess when you start at 8 and go to 3 that is still great correction but you would still think we could have even gotten down just a little bit more. Or am I in left field? > > > > > > Congratulations!!!!! Guest guest
Hi , i get your question now... Yes, I think you're right about starting at with just a little asymmetry. I've heard they can't make a band unless there is enough asymmetry to keep it holding properly. So once you get close to normal it is probably within the 'margin of error' as to where you end up. Meaning that it is not so precise that you can be guaranteed to get to 0 mm. I think going from 15 to 5 is probably a lot easier than going from 10 to 0. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > > > > > > > Congratulations!!!!!
