I feel like I don't hear as well. I don't know if that's normal aging

(50 years old) and it coincidentally happend with chemo.

I just had AC. Noticed my nails were weaker and had black lines. I think

what you describe is more likely to happen with Taxol.

Can't help you with this one. All I noticed was acne-like spots when I

started Herceptin.

Hi Dari,

You described me exactly. I'm hearing sounds, but not understanding. I

have to ask people to repeat things alot. I don't know if that is

hearing loss or chemo brain.

Could also be just preoccupation with your health and how badly you are feeling.

I know when I am not feeling well or have a particularly big decision to make, I

find it hard to concentrate on trivial matters and when it's a big enough deal,

like cancer, everything else seems trivial.

Hi,

Here's my 2 cents.....:-)

Hearing: I don't hear as well either......used to have a GREAT ear.

Nails: nope.....didn't have any problems there.I had both A/C and Taxol

Age spots: not any " age spots " yet while going thru chemo and still

today......I suddenly got a LOT of " spotty area's " all over my body.....Maybe

they ARE age spots......like having " freckle's " in lots of area's.....a spot

here, another spot there.......loads of them.......I never really thought about

that......thanks. Mine are mostly on my chest, arms, back, shoulders....

I had trouble with my ears plugging up and dripping along with my eyes

and nose. ANd yes my fingernails are coming off!!! It is from the

Taxol and taxotere! I had bad skin rashes with all the chemo but

can't say I had any age spots than what I already have. They had to

give me steriod pills for the rashes. Chemo is rough!! My last one

was Oct. 3rd and my nails are still falling off and toenails also!

ANd my taste buds aren't back to normal yet!!!

*Hi Lori,*

**

*Didn't experience " hearing loss " per se...but did have trouble hearing due

to inability to pay attention (caused by chemo brain).*

**

*Had lots of nail problems while on Adriamyacin/Taxotere. Lifting from nail

bed, turning dark, white lines and ridges forming on nails. All m y nails

did eventually grow back just fine after chemo.*

**

*I did acquire a few age spots on my face - never thought to attribute them

to chemo, but could be. One of them really bothers me - it's a brown dot on

the tip of my nose. Could be worse....at least it's not a wart!*

**

*This too shall all pass (except the brown spot on my nose which is

permanent)....*

I had a hearing test and I have actual measurable hearing loss in my

right ear. Of course, no one can say what caused it or if it will

come back or not.

I just had a hearing test and I have actual measurable hearing loss

in my right ear. Of course, no one can tell me what's causing it or

if it will come back or not. You should get a hearing test. It only

takes about 20 minutes and of all the tests we have to go through,

it's the least invasive! LOL!

Hi Dari,

I'm not working. Ended up staying at home when my office closed down and

I didn't want to travel and miss out on my young kids. So I do alot of

volunteering in the schools.

I use to be a big reader, and it's harder for me to get through a book.

It has gotten a little better - we'll see if that study is right and

chemo brain gets better after 3 years.

take care,

this point my memory is going to get any better. But again, everyone is
