Guest guest
Hi- I was concerned about my son's head/face shape when he was about two months old- I could see one eye socket looked more " forward " and on the same side (where his flat spot is) he has a slightly bigger cheek and forehead. My Pedeatrican discounted my concerns at the time just saying " that's the way he is- nothing you can do " . Without any awareness of repositioning techniques I would turn him to his other side-it may have had some impact. He is now 6 months and I recently heard that his symptoms actually have a name and when I asked his doctor she confirmed he had plagiocephaly. She was reluctant to refer him to get therapy-helmet. She said she suspects they won't give him one- too mild. What is too mild? If a flat spot actually changes the facial assymetry is it mild? Will it get more or less noticeable untreated as he gets older. Everybody loves a baby and says he is cute but will he be as " cute " as he could be when he is 15 or 40 years old? Does anyone have pictures of what is considered mild vs. moderate or severe? What do all the measurements mean? This is all very new and we are awaiting an appointment with an orthotist. Please give your experience and pics! cheryl
