Guest guest
Yep I have tried a few myself but had the reverse reaction to them. They made me have the panic attacks, couldn't sleep, and made me very irritable. I felt like I had taken a bottle of diet pills. I was so nervous and jittery. So I just quit trying to find one that was right for me and deal with the hot flashes/sweats Or they made me very sleepy during the day. Couldn't handle that with teenagers. always on the go. tt. Guest guest
Theresa, I'm not sure which anti-depressants you were on, but they are constantly improving and reconfiguring the components to make them more effective. I have been on Celexa for years. When I was diagnosed I spoke with my doc and we decided to up my dosage - that helped. I also have suffered from anxiety attacks. There are newer meds like Cymbalta that work on serotonin and neuroeprenephrin to help with depression and pain. I encourage anyone who is suffering with depression (chronic pain can cause depression you know) to check with their docs for possible SRI's for depression. Or, a referral to a specialist in diagnosing and prescribing for depression. Please believe me, it is worth it. I was a psychotherapist for 25 years - never used anti-depressants - then surprise, surprise, alone, in a new city, I started thinking about driving out into the desert and disappearing! I was smart enough to know this was not a good way to think so went straight to the doc. My life has blossomed - even WITH BC. Good luck all. Guest guest
Hello how are you? Please don't take Xanax on a regular basis because it is very addictive drug, I would encourage you to discuss with your Dr about other alternative drug (medicine) and ask the Dr questions on which medicine is not addictive. You are in my prayers, take care. Chantal Theresa Towner wrote: I tried lexapro and couldn't take that one. Guest guest
Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely discuss these with my docs. Everyone responds to these SRI's differently so sometimes it takes a few tries to get exactly the one that works for you. BC is such a shock to our psyche as well as our bodies that depression is simply a natural potential side effect. No one should have to try to deal with it alone - and antidepressants are one form of support that should definitely be explored. Hope you find the right one for you. Guest guest
I started taking the prescription Lexapro, I think it may be new? It takes about 2 weeks to kick in, but I already dont like it. It makes me feel weird and tired all the time. From my personal experiences, I take Xanax and have been for over a year now. I take a small dosage 0.25mg for Restless legs Syndrome to help me get to sleep. I have gone nights without it and have found it hasnt made me addicted to it. The doctor that prescribed the Lexapro also gave me xanax 5mg for during the day or when needed until the Lexapro kicks in, but as I stated I dont like the Lexapro, so I havent taken it for a few days now and feel fine. So I am currently taken xanax each day and infact today I didnt feel the need for it so I didnt take it. I think in small dosages a person taking xanax would be fine as long as you dont abuse it. It works wonders for me hugs char Hello, > > > > Some of us have found that antidepressants help to reduce both > intensity and > > frequency of hot flashes. Guest guest
Hi Char, I agree with you about Xanax and Ativan - I too take small doses for RLS and anxiety - maybe once or twice a month. I was just warning that they are not to be confused with antidepressants. If you already do not like Lexapro, call your doc. I've had that same reaction to Paxil and it is a terrible feeling. Get her/him to switch you to one of the others. Each one works a little differently. Getting your antidepressant from your primary doc or onc isn't the same as getting them from a doc who specializes in the field. (My son-in-law is a specialist) So just stay with your doc until you find the right one for you. Prayers to you.
